damn man, find a cheaper apartment. What you're paying now is insane. There are nice 1br places for $450 a month in my area...very nice 1brs for $550, and studio apartments for $350.
Look in the Sunday paper and go to the supermarket to get 2 of those apartment magazines. Find another option. |

Fuuuuuck everyone here says move out...you two above me what are your ages? Might help me decide. I feel like if I were younger then I SHOULD move out, but being 26 I feel like I need to "grow up" and be alone. But then again that's probably what society wants me to think I should do. So totally confused. |
Dude, dunno how your friends are but imagine you wanna bring someone over? That would be akward. Also, person who has lived both with roommates and alone, I enjoyed living alone. I like my independence, I like my space. I was your age when I had a room mate - was kinda tough being at ease in bed with my GF (who was so damn loud, she'd make a banshee cover its ears).
$400+ is a lot of loot but if you like your freedom, I think it may be worth it. |

What exactly is your area? I guarantee there's no where in Southern California where you're going to find a 1 bedroom for $450 a month :wtf: |

Here's where I am currently:
1 bdroom apt
$1200
walking distance to gym
Here's where I have to make a decision TODAY on whether to move into or not:
5 bedroom house (4 roommates..all are cool, have known one of them for 3 years)
$760
own bedroom, but share bathroom
not walking distance to gym
It's soooooooo cheap and all the guys are cool and they have PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360!!!! And cable!!!! And I SAVE $440 EVERY month. And there's NO pigeons making humping noises everyday waking me up at 6am.
I keep thinking I need to be social and since I work alone (music and day job) it's good to be surrounded by people at home...sorta like when I lived at the frat. I miss that aspect. But everyone tells me "you're not 21 anymore jake it won't be like college." So now I'm confused. I don't know if I want to move out because I just want to make friends, or if I want to move out because living alone isn't healthy for me.
Also if I decide to move out (which I have to decide today) I won't live in the new place until I get back from Germany and Israel...and wtf what if that changes me and I come back and think to myself "holy why did i move here?"
What would you do? My friends all say I'm crazy for moving out, but my friends are all introverts and I think I should start listening to what I want to do.
And anyone live in a house with multiple roomies?
I don't know what I want in life. :(
/mid-20s crises
Advice from someone closer to my age the better. I'm 26. |
As much as i want to move back to L.A. i have it made here. I pay $1130 (includes trash) a month for a 1600 SQ FT, 3 bedroom house, with a hot tub in the backyard.
Next month i moving out and moving in with my friend. She also has a 3 bedroom house, with the same square footage. The only difference is that my rent will only be $400 a month.
I miss L.A., but not that bad. |

What about a studio Jakey? Where abouts in Hollywood do you live? |
I live close to Guitar Center off Sunset Blvd. Wanna be my roomy? Studios are too expensive...like $1,000+ here.
I'm noticing people who are pro-"move in and save money" tend to be in Europe and those who say "might be worth it for privacy" tend to be American....weird huh. |

Oh yeah, that place is way expensive :stongue:
Didn't think you lived right ON Sunset. Gaht damn. What about a studio in the La Brea area? I'm not sure how much they would be now, but my girlfriend had a decent sized one in a nice area for about $800/mo. |
