I would never live with another person again, just because it's cheaper. I'd rather pay more and have my personal space. |
I'm with you Jenny.
There is no way in hell I would live in a share house again, unless I absolutely had to. Or, as is my situation, living with my gf. But that's quite different to what we're talking about here.
Jake, keep your own pad. The moment you move in with these guys/girls, you're gonna regret it. One bedroom as your personal space is all, compared to YOUR OWN PLACE. If you wanna save some money, try and find a cheaper place. ON YOUR OWN.
I can't stress this enough. |

some of the best times ive ever had was in shared housing. you just gotta make sure you have the right room mates. i think it also teaches you a lot about compromise and makes you more considerate of others.
ive lived with half of my best mates and overall the experience was excellent. |

I'm the landlord in my place. I rent out the room to a couple of girls. they are moving out at the end of this month and i'm getting new girls or guys in at the end of august, you're saving a considerable amount of money by moving out. I'd just go for it.
Sharing is a blast if you're going to be with good people. I'd never met the last girls i rented to for the last 9 months until the day they put down the deposit and i've only had one semi-large argument with one of them. it's been good laugh really.
Piece of advice. Don't bang your flatmates. It's awkward times. |

Ultimately it just depends what kind of person you are. But this should be obvious.
If you're the kind of person who NEEDS your alone time at any time you want it, don't move in with room-mates. |

.
I think I'm gonna move out.
I need to socialize. Re-socialize. This place I'm in right now makes me feel so lonely. So much space and crap here that I don't even use. The house to move into has free cable, free Tivo, and all the PS2, PS3, Xbox games I can dream of. I think if I don't go I'm just going to wither away and become a troll by the age of 30. And I won't have $440/month times x-months to save. Can't stay here. I'm living an illusion by thinking I can afford $1200 per month when I can't pay all my bills and keep taking money out of savings to pay for it. I had OVER $20,000 when I moved in 2 years ago. I now have only $4,000 cuz I kept taking out. Time to move out before I have none left. |

| I did it. Moving in to the house. Bye bye independence. it. I'm not rich enough to live alone. I need to earn it. Not drain it from my savings account. |

| Im kind of in the same situation. I really want to live *alone* but I cant afford it. I have a 2 bedroom apartment for 900 that I keep a roommate in... cant beat 450 rent in Midtown. Basically, I think that living alone is a luxury. I think it's responsible to share a place in your mid twenties and single to pay off debt or save money. I support your decision. |
