| Everybody here is pretty quick to cite worst-case scenarios. I haven't always had the best roommates, and we've gone through rough patches, but I've never had the sort of problems people are warning about. Really, it depends, but for me I've felt at a much better place socially since moving in with other people. I can relax and have a beer and play Madden with one of my roommates after work instead of entertaining myself every night I don't feel like going out. |

If I were to move in with other people it would have to be a significant upgrade.
Moved back in with my parents in 2005 after having been with roomies etc for several years ( long story ).
I have a very sizeable room but ideally I would like an office/work room. Have way too many books etc all in my freaking room and it's to breath and have the freedom of movement. One corner desk and two work tables is a bit insane....
I feel like a grown-up saying I need an office but I really do ... what they heck I'm 26.
Also having issues with a working area for painting building stuff etc is a must for me which I have right now but it's not so practical.
You weighed the pros and cons for your move and I hope it works out for the best which it should.
I have had 5 roomies. 2 were really cool, 1 discreet but cool, 2 ghosts antisocial freaks. Never had real issues but had some situations especially with the ghosts. |

+1 to that. I gave 3 TV's away. I just want it in one location. I can't do the watching TV in bed thing. |

So I'm moving out August 31st. I'm gonna miss my place. I just hope to GOD there is no construction going on near where I'm moving because if there's any loud Mexican trucks moving at 6am in the morning I'll be screaming bloody in hell at the them just like I did when that wouldn't stop singing Elvis songs at the top of his lungs next door.
Yeah about the TV in the bedroom. All the guys have it. This may be a REALLY REALLY AWFUL reason why I should not have moved in. But I like having a savings buffer for now. My credit is in high and my savings is almost gone. Time for me to get smart with money. |

It's not an awful reason, it's a great reason. Everybody makes sacrifices every now and then. Good on you for making the decision.
Best of luck. |

UPDATE:
So I've been living at my new place with FOUR roommates for about two months now and it's AWESOME!
-hardly anyone is ever home when I'm here because they either work at night or have music gigs.
-I have a lifetime supply of movies, video games, TV shows, and I Love Lucy literature (hahahah) to entertain me
-I'm always offered food and alcohol
-I don't hear any Russian neighbors scream at each other or blast stupid communist music outside their window every Sunday at 1030pm.
This decision was definitely win! Just wanted to say thanks to all the people who encouraged me to move out into the house and save $440/month! You guys are awesome-o! I'm glad I listen to y'all. |
