Italians, Armenians, Bulgarians, Romanians and Turkish, from what I know are like that...

Actually it might be the whole world minus the white trash on this board and their families.

You're going to hate Hong Kong...

They have big ass parties for weddings, and instead of giving gifts, guests give money for the bridge and groom that doesn't have any connection to the number 4.

you forgot that detail :p

LMAO!

I hadn't said anything for the longest time... where the hell did I get back involved?

Haha!

P.S. If I had unlimited amount of dough to throw around I would have a super expensive wedding. But since both myself, and the guy I will marry will likely be in debt from school loans, I doubt that will be the case unfortunately.

Ah well, to each their own :)

My sister has planned and done as much as she can within reason for the time she has after work and everything, and she is still spending 10k on her wedding. She took out a loan and they will pay it off pretty quickly, but it really isn't easy to spend less than 5k. She saved a ton of money with venue and minister , didn't spend a ton on invitations, didn't invite a million people, and she tried to keep expenses down as much as possible.

My best friends sister on the other hand, has almost 500 people coming, and is broke. What gives.

10K? Cheap, bro. :p

Theresa
In reality, my wedding would probably cost a lot if I did everything I wanted to. But if I don't have extra cash, or I need the money for more important things, I am willing to forgo a bunch of that frivolous stuff.

Well I know people who have spent 5x that, so in the grand scheme of things it is "cheap" in the relative sense. If/when I get married, I want under 100, preferably 75 max. I really want it to be my closest friends and family (what I have) and not just a giant gathering of all these people.
