Iraq: Wave of Baghdad blasts kills at least 95

By SINAN SALEHEDDIN (AP) – 34 minutes ago

BAGHDAD — Iraqi officials have increased the casualty toll to at least 95 people killed and more than 400 wounded in a wave of bombings in Baghdad.

The toll from Wednesday's mid-morning attacks has risen throughout the day as more bodies have been pulled from the rubble.

Police and hospital officials provided the number of dead and wounded on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk to the media.

The deadliest blast was a truck bombing targeting Iraq's Foreign Ministry building near the Green Zone, minutes after a suicide truck bomber struck the Finance Ministry in another part of Baghdad.

It was the deadliest apparently coordinated attack this year and comes amid fears that government troops aren't ready to provide security.

At least 32 people were killed and 150 others wounded in two explosions targeting Shiite pilgrims Thursday in Karbala, about 60 miles (100 km) south of Baghdad, police officials said.

It was the latest of several terrorist attacks across Iraq this week that have killed at least 118 people and wounded 450 others.
Comrade Stalin
That is just the cost of their "free"dom.

In two northern Iraqi cities, security forces trying to push back crowds opened fire, killing six demonstrators. In the capital of Baghdad, demonstrators knocked down blast walls, threw rocks and scuffled with club-wielding troops.

The protests, billed as a "Day of Rage, were fueled by anger over corruption, chronic unemployment and shoddy public services.

What are they complaining about? We gave them freedom and democracy, what more do they want?
