How do you exactly define a boyfriend or girlfriend? When two people are labeled "boyfriend/girlfriend".
ie. dating? making out? etc |

When two people mutually agree to exclusively see eachother only.
Or when their Facebook profile says so :D |

Regular sex with the occasional pillow talk?
Or how about just whenever you decide you want to call each other that, instead of having an exact definition. |

neither at the dating/making out stage
you really become bf/gf when you actually talk about it and come to agreement. otherwise its all fair play

Yes, but what if you don't decide to call each other that, but other people decide to call you that? |

I think its more when two people decide to have a romantic commitment to each other.
As some people mentioned already some people do have open relationships, however I would still think they have a romantic commitment to one another... they may go off and sleep with another person but will still come home to their bf/gf..
That being said I think it is important that a couple has an understanding of what their commitment to each other means. |
