There are pros and cons of both. The pros of the Rafael, is that it is already a well established unit along with the OS. It also has the expertise of the community for windows mobile and HTC devices.
The cons of the Rafael, is that it runs windows mobile. An OS that is quite closed and doesn't always run the best at all times.
The pros of the G1 are the openness, insane modding capabilities, the capabilities of the device itself are pretty impressive, and it will have updates to the OS often.
Cons of the device, is that the OS is NOT an established OS, the modding community, while rather large, is still inexperienced with it. There is a lot of unknowns. |

Depending on where you are, there is no difference or there could be a world of difference. In Arizona, VZW blows dick, but T-Mobile rocks. So that is a bull argument in general. |
