Aside from that--congrats on voting and being engaged in the world. That's a good thing.
Yeah keep an eye on your spam folder I guess. Maybe something will pop up there that can help you decide.

Can we just ing give the black guy a chance?
John Stewart said it best:
quote:
STEWART: I keep hearing that she's ''like us.'' There's this idea that people who hunt and have ''good'' values are somehow this mythological American; I don't know who ''this'' person is, I've never met them. She is no more typical ''us'' than I am, than Obama is, than McCain is, than Mr. T is. If there is something quintessentially or authentically American about her, I sort of feel like, you know what? You ''good values people'' have had the country for eight years, and done an unbelievably s---ty job. Let's find some bad values people and give them a shot, maybe they'll have a better take on it.

In a similar vain, I like what Sam Harris has to say about all this:
quote:
Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated.
I believe that with the nomination of Sarah Palin for the vice presidency, the silliness of our politics has finally put our nation at risk. The world is growing more complex—and dangerous—with each passing hour, and our position within it growing more precarious. Should she become president, Palin seems capable of enacting policies so detached from the common interests of humanity, and from empirical reality, as to unite the entire world against us. When asked why she is qualified to shoulder more responsibility than any person has held in human history, Palin cites her refusal to hesitate. "You can't blink," she told Gibson repeatedly, as though this were a primordial truth of wise governance. Let us hope that a President Palin would blink, again and again, while more thoughtful people decide the fate of civilization.
excellent point. i dont agree with all that rudd has to offer, but the fact that he speaks mandarin i think is pretty ing excellent. and whilst i disagreed with virtually everything howard did, i never considered him nor costello a halfwit.

I encourage everyone here to post these videos (and articles) at other forums you visit. People on the fence should know what they are supporting by voting for Mccain.

OK, what is all of this spam of which you speak. I have posted spam here maybe twice and always with the disclaimer that it was spam. Maybe you can sharpen your wit a bit and not get so defensive just because I don't much care for "your guy." Don't take it so personally.
Some celestial event. No - no words. No words to describe it. Poetry! They should've sent a poet. So beautiful. So beautiful...

My issue isn't you don't choose Obama its that you don't choose for what I consider silly reasons. I would think it better if you actually decided McCain or even a 3rd party. Out of everything we know about both candidates you pick possibly the one inconclusive subject as your be-all end-all decision that trumps all other facts for refusing endorsement. But your choices are your own its just my opinion that you're being a flakey fairy.

I really dont know how she can possibly have any supporters. She is obviously very uneducated and no sense of reality.she should just go back to her hole state and stay as a mayor.
I just cant wait to see what Biden has in store for her on Oct2nd.:)

You won't see much. The Mccain campaign met with the commission on presidential debates and insisted on a change in the debate format. Unlike the Presidential debate, the VP's won't be having a "conversational" style debate where they get to ask each other questions. It will be the traditional type where the moderator asks questions and they get to give 60 second answers, 30 second rebuttles, etc. Palin will probably have a big pile of good soundbyte answers to give, while she would have been humiliated in a serious discussion format.
I think the Obama campaign should have fought these changes but they decided not to...a damn shame. It would have been fun to watch a real debate between them.

"In a democracy, people get the kind of government they deserve."
I tend to agree with this statement, or at least 51 % of the people do. I guess we'll find out just how retarded most Americans are... thanks to the joys of winner takes all plus Gerrymandering, a possible electronic vote fraud... after these elections are over. The funny thing is that Obama only looks better, given how retarded the McCain camp is. I guess that's one way of making putting lipstick on a pig.
