It seems that some of you have confused what I am referring to. I am saying that do you say things as if you were from a different area than you are, while for the most part living all your life in the same area or same accent regions. Like I have lived in California my whole life, but say somethings the way someone from Wisconsin would. Or the way I say call lately has been like a New Yorker. |
Well I use whatever I feel like........I dont go by strict rules of ooh no this is Toronto and I have to use words only used by torontonians.
Think outside the box nigga and be creative. |

| I sometimes say y'all and I've never stepped foot in Texas. Or the South really. But I did live with a guy from Alabama and a guy from Louisiana for a summer, so I chalk it up to that. |

But see I was born and raised in California my whole life. Was around the same area for the first 20 years of my life, and moved to Southern California 5 years ago. I few TAs I have talked to, thought I was from the Midwest because the way I say some words. Lately I noticed the way I have been saying call is more like that New York style. |
LOL when we were on the phone yesterday you totally ing sounded like you were from New York or something.
It all depends on who I'm talking to. I think Sam said I had an accent. Ian said I sounded like an all american white girl. Sunsnail says I only have an accent when I'm pronouncing some words. Ben said I sound just like Frenchie on the phone (Canadian? :wtf: ) So I don't know what to believe lol. |

| Ever since I became fluent in english, I've adopted an appropriate accent for using the language which often sticks around if I quickly switch from that to my native tongue, and the reverse is also true. So, when using both english and french in a short timespan, french speakers tend to think of me as a native anglophone, whereas english speakers think of me as a native francophone (which I am). |

Agreed, so long as they're not dumb, because then it makes them sound even dumber. |
