quote/quotation is my first example. Quote is a verb and quotation is a noun but even I have been guilty of using them as synonyms :( |
actually quote is both a verb and a noun depending on context

Well, I agree there are some words that are ridiculous and are over used, but I think business English is more appropriate than using casual conversation. If you are working with high profile people, you can't talk to them like they are buddies. I think some of the phrases and words just show professionalism. Also, there is nothing wrong with using semi-colons or colons, if they are used correctly in a sentence, IMO. |
