I got there at 11:00pm or so, it took 50 minutes to get all the way in. The funny thing is when I got to security, the line up for women was way longer than it was for men. The search itself was the most thorough search I've experienced at a big event. They had one guy search the basket with all your items, one guy search your shoes and one guy search you. The guy that did the body search actually felt under my socks and all around to see if I was hiding anything there, funny stuff. I don't think a wait of one hour is that big of a deal for a big event. In my experience the Bell center waiting time has been close to nil over the last 5-6 years. It was much worse when massives/raving was more popular in the late 90s and early 2000s...
I had friends going in through VIP at the same time which took about 30 minutes. I think the organization of this event was pretty poor since like someone mentioned before, coat check was actually full around 1:40am onward. Friends of mine that went through VIP at 1:30am missed coat check by about 10 people, they also had to wait a little while because staff ran out of VIP bracelets. WTF. At about the same time regular coat check also got full.
As far as the setup, it was a pretty nice setup. The white drapes were up when I got in but I think they were removed by the time Tiesto came on. It's probably better that way since it gave people in the stands easier viewing access to the floor and stage.
I think the VJ section in the middle and the stage in front obviously took away from the amount of dance floor space, aside from that it was a nice setup. Also, it was really a concert style sound setup imho since it seemed there were only speakers at the front and maybe sides. The sound at the back was really poor.
This was the first time I heard Tiesto live and I didn't think it was all that. I get varied reviews from my friends from he was absolutely amazing to he was O.K. For someone with such name recognition and following, I guess I expected more.
It cleared up big time after Tiesto left which was fine with me since there was finally room to dance. Definitely a lot of attractive women, I always hear from my friends that they come out in hordes for Tiesto events.
I would have liked more speakers and I'm amazed they ran out of coat check space before 2:00am, that's a huge debacle. I had fun though and I don't know anyone that had a bad time. |
