:p
I think it's that "after-hours culture" that probably won't change overnight, imo. To go to an all-night party at 830PM just seems odd (and maybe inconvenient) for many. Trying to last for that final dj set seems inconceivable as well.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a shift where thousands start to show up earlier and earlier to these BeB events, kinda like they did for BeB 14 after word began to spread regarding the early lineup (and lessons learned after the mass refunds of BeB 13). The NYE events speak for themselves, as ppl want to make it for the countdown (as you or someone mentioned on here before).
Adjustments need to be made, but not only by the paying customer, imo. If these guys are going after the superstar dj(s), they will have to do their part too, to ensure efficiency with the bigger crowds these djs seem to draw, imo. |

yeah i know what you mean...
the problem is that these events are more like concerts,... you know at concerts you have the main artist, and artists who open.
Really those artists that open are there to give enough time to let thousands in.
No organization can manage thousands in just one hour before the main act, especially with long search times. |

congrats to BeB for selling out the event and bringing more fans into edm and onto TA :)
However, 3.5 months to go before Bal en blanc - where there's gonna be twice as many ppl - hopefully the logistical errors of past two BeBs and this Tiesto rave can be resolved.
You have to know that everyone's gonna show up early for BeB again, especially after the long queue for BeB 14 and now this Tiesto gig.
You guys have any potential solutions besides showing up at 800PM? :p
How about more entry points/staff? Selling a bit less tickets (lol)? Bigger venue (Olympic)? Increase VIP or have a third tier of tickets? Moving the headliner to later in the night/morning?
Re these ideas: easier said than done, but not entirely impossible to implement ... well, at least some of them ....
The fan base for these events has become bigger and bigger no doubt so there are more challenges for BeB, indeed. |
I think BeB management has stated several times while answering complaints about the speed of line-ups for their Bal en Blanc Palais de Congres event that for that location they have already maximized the efficiency of the line-up, security and coat check. Apparently it is impossible to make it any better than they have and that is all they can do logistically. The best bet is to buy VIP. If you don't want to buy VIP for BeB 15 I'd expect to wait 2-4 hrs in line. |

funny thing is, you'll begin to see earlier crowds to these gigs but with the same queue time. But you can't blame the n00bs, they didn't know any better :p
The airport analogy is a very good one, but these venues probably offer more flexibility to change things around than an airport/airplane (I presume). Perhaps having more search staff is the way to go, but of course that would probably result in a more expensive ticket.
And again, scaling back available tickets would probably allieviate things too, lineup-wise, dancefloor-wise, etc. I don't see BeB doing that unless the customer bears the inevitable ticket price increase (imo).
Kendo: of course BeB will write that in every press release. If I were writing one for them, that is exactly how I would say it too. Someone there has to think outside the box as these issues aren't impossible to solve ... unless of course they are working under a tight budget ;)
As for VIP, it is the way to go and I have one for Beb 15 (only because of what happened the last two years). Previous BeBs, VIP was not necessary ... and it certainly wasn't a huge benefit for many at this Tiesto event, apparently. |

Bal en Blanc is too popular now. It will be sold out out every year. I remember when it used to have more gay people than straight people... I had a few gay friends that actually stopped going in the mid/early 2000s because they felt it was getting too straight. Now it's just a commercial party in white that tons of people want to go to and draws a lot of out-of-towners too. Hence why VIP is actually important now.
I've never felt VIP at Bell center was worth anything. At Bell center you go into that little small side entrance with less people serving you and coat checking you and then filing into an elevator, so many bottlenecks.
I'm just hoping BeB 15 will be more like BeB 10 as far as decorations. I find every year they do less, probably because they don't need to spend the money since it's always sold out :). |

| i was checking out the "new" bal en blanc website yesterday and reading the history of BEB..... do we know if they still give money to Divers-Cité or any other organization? |

and that's the key: why change their business plan if they continue to sell out each and every year? Why care about decorations, sometimes questionable headliners and overcrowded dancefloors, long waits, etc, if they keep getting more customers every year?
For every 1,000 that say to themselves, "I'm never coming back to this poorly run event," they will simply be replaced by another 2,000 n00bs anyways.
And these guys know how to put a positive spin on anything as they are infallible, of course.
"We sold too many tickets and ed up royally."
BeB spin: "the ever-growing event exceeded our wildest expectations and provided us with unprecedented challenges this year." :p |

Can anybody produce a full tracklist of Tiesto's set?
That was one of the best sets I had ever heard |

The first thing I joined TA for was to look for a tracklist of the first time I went to see Armin Van Buuren.
LOL
It's repeating itself. |
