airline travel (pg. 2)

you can't really bring liquids in your handcarry luggage.

flying is very easy and hassle-free from me, especially since I always fly Singapore Airlines and the airport here is very ing efficient and awesome with great shops and restaurants. Just got upgraded to first class last month flying from Singapore to Manila since my mom's a frequent traveler (for her job) and is a member of the business/first class club. Drinks overflowing, you could have practically all the best meals in the plane and you're being served too much that it begins to get annoying...haha. Of course, the legroom is great and you almost have a bed as a chair.

The only thing that really bothers me though, despite being economy/business or first class, is that I have real trouble sleeping on the plane since I always fall a sleep and then some stewardess wakes me up like 30 minutes later to serve my meal. :whip:

Singapore Air is the best airline in the world. Also, if you don't want to be woken up for a meal, drop your tray down. They will place the food there and leave you alone, usually.

Oh yeah, bring noise-canceling headphones for plane rides. They are worth every penny. You have to turn them off during take off and landing but you can still leave them on your head. It really helps with noisy passengers.

You can tell I fly a lot. 50k+ miles last year!

Whoever told you that is lying through their teeth. Last month I had metal knives and forks when eating airside. As someone who travels fairly regularly (just over 100,000 miles in '08, a bit less in '07) the one thing that bother me about flying is the fact anything and everything is fobbed off with 'being for security reasons'.

Everything else that bothers people isn't much of an issue to me. As a frequent flyer I don't have to pay any baggage fees, I get use of the priority security lines, I know how to dress to make security easy (though still have the TSA douchebags and their inconsistent behaviour to deal with), I have my 3oz baggy to hand and more often than not I pay for First or Business class so the onboard things aren't a bother....I actually quite enjoy travelling!

Here's a fairly typical journey for me:

Sorry, one of my nerdy pastimes is writing reports of flying!

1. the fat ass bitch who is spilling over into my seat with her lard

2. the clueless who tries to talk to you the whole flight even though you have your headphones in or are trying to sleep because something about me must say 'I really want to know your life story'

3. a snot nosed crying little brat who screams for two hours

preach on brother. I have come to not only despise the whole airport/security/luggage/delays experience, but it's the actual people on the airplanes I can't stand. I'll drive any chance I get.

To add to your list, I also can't stand the following:

1) When the plane reaches the terminal, and everyone takes off their seatbelt and stands up at the same time. wtf... most of them are standing up hunched over because they are aren't in the aisle, yet they still stand there. I hate all airline passengers and go strait to the headphones and sunglasses to avoid communication.

2) The stupid s who try to jam a carry on suitcase into the overhead bin that CLEARLY does not fit.

3) The constant battle for armrest space (note: if you don't stake your claim to armrest real estate right away, the other person is never courteous enough to give you any)

4) Fat guy trying to position his laptop on his gut... just wait till you get to the ing hotel, .

5) Stewardesses bumping your elbow or foot with the drink cart if you're a millimeter into the aisle.

There are a lot of morons out there...on the frequent flyer board I use there was a thread started about 'pet peeves of other passengers' and I got to 100 fairly quickly :D :nervous: :wtf:

It's not the much really...I know some people who are between 300,000 and 400,000 year after year.

My father was doing almost 300,000 miles per year on one route alone for the best part of ten years. That wasn't including his other flying!

i'm taking a flight from boston --> london and then london --> larnaca on the 15th/16th and i don't know how my ipod is going to last that entire time! i'm going to have to charge it up with my laptop on the layover in heathrow i guess.

oh, and british airways won't let me choose my seat until "24 hours before departure". if i don't get a window seat i will be pissed. so that's why i'll be online, picking the first window seat i even see on the screen, exactly 24 hours before my flight leaves!

why would you want a window seat? Unless you've flown 5 or below times, an aisle seat is way better. Don't know if you're travelling alone, but it's hella frustrating trying to wake people or make random strangers move when you want to go to the bathroom.
