but that is your belief...maybe some people believe the pursuit of money is what life is all about. |

As for greed being the root of all evils, it isn't. It is often a despicable emotion, but this is far from being the only cause behind the harm humans can inflict on others, and it's also far from being always negative (greed can, paradoxically, help you achieve things you would otherwise lack the motivation to). |
this 'greed is good' mentality (don't post the movie clip, everyone knows it already) is the problem itself.
to me, it's disgusting. there are better motivations: improving the collective quality of life, health, and spiritual motivations.
greed only helps you achieve things you don't need. it is a vicious, cyclical system that says, in order to survive you must take advantage of other people or help other people take advantage of other people.
this is corny, but related:

| The thing with saying that money is the root of all evil get rid of it and lets just trade stuff is that you will just replace money with something else. There will always be signs of status in society, and the root of all evil is the unavoidable pursuit of those. |

you can substitute money with anything - faith, happiness, etc
in the end they are all delusions of 'hope', 'future', and 'more'
greed is not limited to 'money' |

a utilitarian, i like that too. money shouldn't be the end goal, education gives you that. it's best to live a life which goes in accordance to your values. don't just work to make money, work because there is a purpose in what you do... |

What movie clip?
Besides, I'm not saying greed is good. I'm saying greed itself isn't either bad or good, as it's highly dependent on the context (like everything else). |
