I thought this read was going to accent the reasons that dj's are predominantly male. meh. |
i thought so too...but its not like women are frowned upon as djs...in fact women are held high on a pedestal as djs....question is, in terms of skill which matters the most in the EDM community, where do they compare?
male djs dont get far either so its all fair |

I dunno dude. Looking at the DJ Mag poll says otherwise :p
(as for why there aren't many female DJ's I think it's because most women just don't get THAT into the music and everything behind it.) |

Males are more predominant as DJ's than females because males have a tendency to be obsessive.
I've discussed this with some male DJ friends and they will admit that it is a huge factor they will sit for days and mix and practice and get new tracks and produce new tracks. I mean DAYS. They obsess. They can't stop. They won't stop.
The best are obsessive. trust.
The love for the music is just the beginning. |

over 3/4 of the women go "i dont care i just wanna dance"..msot dont know about the dj or even what tracks are produced and really dont care...those that have the knowledge have other things they're more passionate about |

There are some really talented female DJs but I can't think of many female Trance DJs that I would want to see and if you look at DJ Mag its mostly trance.
I think female and male DJs are on a level playing field when it comes to opportunities of making it internationally.
I think female DJs have one big selling feature...sex appeal. Unfortunately, I think some miss use that feature by parading around topless....but if used properly, it can really grow their fanbase. |

Yeah that's cool I understand that too. However, the whole first section and the points she uses to back-up her feminist views on how men & women are segregated in society is just bull.
Sure, I think that much more needs to be done in other parts of the world where woman barely have any rights. But the constructs she uses is what seperates us!
For F*** sakes, men have a penis for a reason and women have a vagina for a reason. We're different.
Men and Woman are different as simple as that...
I'm not saying that Women and Men should be treated different in terms of social equality but the difference is there for every other aspect.
and not only that but all aspects of reality are socially constructed... not just the constructs she describes.
All the power to social equality but not to the stupid social constructs she is talking about. |

You're exactly right. That's what I meant when I said "get THAT into the music and everything behind it." Everything behind it meaning the technology and how it works, who's who in the industry, etc etc etc. |

| Somebody probably mentioned this, but that first post sounds a lot like e-babble. God it's annoying when you bump into people that think they're smarter on drugs. Go away, I just want to dance. |
