How long has she been DJing? I've never heard of her. Is this her full time job?
I'm more talking about full time, internationally touring (or aspiring) DJs whose sole career goal is to DJ/produce. |
oh ok gotcha.. but u gotta start somewhere. she started last summer i believe officially. she def has lots of support from colleagues |

oh so you are backing up my theory that Men are more obsessive than women?? and have tendencies psychologically that make them want to be DJ's as opposed to women?
*slightly confused*

The male dominance of the industry is a big factor in keeping women away. |
I don't know any women that wouldn't dj based on the fact it's generally a male dominated career. I can't see this being a reason for a chick to not pick up the decks and go for it. |

(as for why there aren't many female DJ's I think it's because most women just don't get THAT into the music and everything behind it.) |
weve had more female djs pop up in the last year here than ever... its pretty insane! not to mention a handful female veterans who kill it on the regular...

It is typical in male dominated industries, and it is subtle. It is not a reason why they don't start, but it can be a contributing factor to leaving. The boys club, the sexism, it is prevalent everywhere but obviously moreso in male dominated professions.
It sounds like you are just kind of speculating on what you think a woman may or may not do in a situation that you haven't actually been in before. |

Sexism, boys club, lower pay, it is not speculation, in DJing or any other profession.
Give women some credit, they do not leave something they love because of mere speculation. |

i've only seen them leave when they dont get gigs and they dont get gigs cos they dont do any self promotion.
so based on self pity, they blame sexism and get bitchy
ive seen it on more than 3 occasions.. |

Why do we care what a person who has been partying for 1.5 years has to say?
I actually read the whole thing and I think I deserve congratulations. I don't know why the bashing of top 40 clubs was in there or the feminist rant either.
Believe me, we may think the people in the top 40 scene are goofs, but they think the same about us. |

I don't doubt that happens. It happens everywhere, with men and women.
That's totally not what I'm talking about though. It's funny how you seem to equate what I am talking about with being lazy ...no surprise I guess. |
