This is my fave female DJ
She's starting out in NYC (You think trying to break it in Toronto is tough, try NYC)
www.myspace.com/laurenlanenyc
She plays everything some tech, minimal, vocal house etc.
Saw her play last week in NYC with Victor Calderone at Cielo and also at Pacha NYC.
She's also opened for heavies like Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia, etc.
I think she will make an impact as she's attractive but also has the respect of those aforementioned DJs and others because she knows music and can mix properly.
There's my cheap plug for female DJs |

Well, to be serious for a moment, it's not like women in other professions don't use don't use their sexuality to their advantage as well. It's just not as overt because, well, people aren't high on drugs, lololol. There's more to the message there, I'm just too lazy to articulate in an intelligent manner. Carry on.
:o |
Yah like nurses.......
They are in seeeeexxxxxyyyyyyyyyy.... |

| I got upset at the gender business and had to stop reading. I hate that stupid argument: we are only different because of social constructs. Absolute BS. |

To sum up:
"The more high people are, the less attitude they have."
Doesn't take a feminist to figure that one out. |
people dont stare at her like she was a piece of meat cause they're ing high and their eyes cant focus, thus they can see all. but as soon as that edupness is gone....
- trippin' balls for 3-4 hours
- coming down, first coherent thoughts are:
1. whoah that (insert drug of choice here) was ing awesome
2. im gonna take some mo.. GODDAMN LOOK AT THEM !!!!
- doing the moonwalk towards her
true story. happened to me many a times, and not just me. admit it you bastards !!
for the music my ass. you ever seen a girl breakdance, and do it good(cause thats the hottest thing in the whole world, hotter than a bowl of )?? 10% of us are looking at her and appreciate the moves while the other 90% stares at her like she was a piece of meat. what you dont know is that 140% of us wanna stick it up her ass. and its not demeaning or objectifying or whatever you wanna call it, its just the nature of things.
goddamned plur. ITS A TRAP!! |

i thought so too...but its not like women are frowned upon as djs...in fact women are held high on a pedestal as djs....question is, in terms of skill which matters the most in the EDM community, where do they compare?
male djs dont get far either so its all fair |
True, but male DJ's who spin music that caters to the likes of the city def do get further. A ty (or even just decent) house or electro DJ in this city will get many more opportunities to spin than one who spins ANYTHING hard (eg. hardstyle, hardcore, hard trance, etc), even if the harder-style DJ's are technically way better, more experienced, and more everything. Brutal.. |

and even then...
a DJ is like pennies today. you'll find them everywhere
no matter how talented you might be, unless you have connections, you'll never get that start to show your talent
well, helps if you got a huge group of friends willing to get drunk at your gigs |
