Are New York City Officers getting more retarded lately?

Some of you may know my story on my car getting towed back in January a few blocks away from Pacha. I was parked in a No Standing zone which said I could not stand between the hours of 7AM-7PM. I parked there at 5 minutes to 10PM. Long story short, my car was towed for no apparent reason when I came back at 3AM. The ticket says no standing all days/all hours. I'm currently getting an appeal so I can not only get my fine money back, but the towing money that was also paid.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because I got another ticket last night near Love. I parked near the corner of 5th Ave. & Washington Square North. I parked past a sign saying "No parking anytime" and near a pole further down with no sign whatsoever on it. It looked like there was a sign there at one point, but no longer.
On my way to Love, I turned right on McDougal and saw two officers in their little mobiles, tagging 4 cars with tickets. After the JOC show, I came back to my car noticing a ticket on the windshield for $65 saying that I parked in an area where I could not stand all days/all hours. The officer clearly made an imaginary sign because there was no such sign anywhere near my car. I parked the car there the last time I was at Love for Randy Boyer & Breakfast. I'm definitely fighting this ticket as I have all the proof needed to win.
Are cops trying to meet a quota or something? Clearly there was no such sign as stated on the ticket. I find it retarded that something like that was even done. I'd also like to know if anything like this has happened to any of you. |

parkin in the city sucks
i always park at a meter cause they are free overnight and they dont really have any of those bull no standing or no parking anytime signs
so always becarefull...the city needs money and your probly right they are probly giving tickets just to meet a quota or something.
the mayor and city are talking about cutting cops, firefighters, teachers etc but i always see them posting add's to be a traffic cop, cause they will generate alot of $$
and parking is only the begining, now they are cracking down more on "blocking the box"
they will stand by a busy intersection and wait for you to get caught, then come up and scan ur registration and bam a 90$ ticket i think it is
for the first ticket i would still deff appeal it, fuk the meter maids |

Oh Mike... After $700 in parking tickets over 2 years I've learned the golden rule:
"If you think you're legally parked in New York City, you're not"
If there's any chance of you being parked illegally, the cops will get ya. It's the city I tells you! It's the only thing they DO care about.. |

| I've also learned from ticket adventures & I found a way to stop those freaking tickets for good. car sold, problem solved, no more tickets, no more insurance to pay, no mechanic bills. 2 of my friends recently did the same thing. fortunately we live in a city where public transportation gets you around well, with no worries of getting pulled over if you had an extra corona. I would say explore the idea of ditching the drive if you don't need it..take the subway to Love & Pacha Big Mike! |

mike, i think the first ticket you definitely have a good case. make sure you have pictures if you go to the adjudicator. the second one, with the parking on 8th ave and wash sq -- unless there's another sign explicitly saying something otherwise, you have to go with the "no parking anytime" sign. i think you're SOL with that one.
ps, i don't think traffic cops are real cops :o |

| I just got a 120$ parking ticket yesterday on main street in Flushing for parking in front of a building which had no sign as well. I was only gone 15 minutes to go into the Hong Kong market and came back and there was the ticket. I am going to try to dispute it. |

It's cause you are black Mike! :P
Seriously that sucks, its bad in Miami too, but your ticket prices up there is absolutely ridiculous!
Just scream out "Rodney King!" next time you see them near your car. |
