Where have all the full-on melodies gone?

I came across Armin's Universal Religion 2004 mix a few days ago and I gave it a listen for the first time in years. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but I can't remember the last time I heard a progressive trance track that came close to the style below. Each of the tracks has a distinct and memorable melody and, in my mind, were part of the excellent 03-04 era of melodic trance. Listening made me nostalgic and brought back some good memories.
Those of us who were around here long enough remember the "friendly debates" :D about "McProg." The fact of the matter is, I think the majority of these tracks hold up great today. Tracks 1-11 are pure prog trance bliss. I challenge you to find me some tracks produced within the last year that match #1-11 below.
No farty bass, no minimal clicks and bleeps, and no annoying 8th notes...Just driving melodies.
Here's the tracklist:
1. Synergy Hello Strings
2. Tilt the world doesnt know
3. Lolo Why ?
4. Ridgewalkers Find (Andy moor mix)
5. Audioholics External Key
6. Perry O Neil Waveforce
7. Deepsky Talk like a stranger (Markus Schulz mix)
8. Probspot Foreplay
9. Above & Beyond presents Tranquility Base - Surrender (Original Mix)
10. Mirco De Govia Voller Sterne (Super 8 remix)
11. EnMass- CQ (seek you)
12. Active Sight Out of our lives
13. Signum The Timelord
14. Armin vs M.i.k.e Intruder

| To be honest I don't really like many of the tracks in that set. I certainly wouldn't lament that period of trance, and wouldn't associate it with good progressive trance. |

I agree. Can't say that I was a fan of any of those track in that set. Instead I would say that some of the tracks, The World Doesn't Know for instance marked the downfall of Tilt. And L-Vee made just another lame copy of Xpander.
Just no outstanding tracks to be fair. |

yeah and as I recall those types of tracks were still being bashed around here back in the day (well since 2005 at least ). going by general concensus around these parts I wouldn't call that a classic era.
I do miss the fuller sound in music though, I still maintain that most productions today hold back and don't explore the potential they have. |

Yeah, I'm not really saying these are "classics" per se.
I do agree that many of the tracks today do seem to hold back in comparison to these. |
