Later on I could actually hear some melodies clearly, but Opera seriously needs to correct its sound issue. And give us free glasses of water, but that's another issue.

Otherwise, it was an awesome set! I had a great time, but by 2:40am I was exhausted, and I didn't stay for the very end. One complaint (especially after ATB last week) is that PVD is pretty sedate and indifferent during his sets. Heh, looks like he's concentrating excessively; the guy needs to learn to multitask. His use of the keyboard live to play along with some tracks (can't remember which) was a nice touch, though.

I don't understand why it's so hard to make a sound system sound good at a club. There are so many that do it right... I mean it was a freaking opera house, that place is supposed to have good acoustics. I suppose the reason is because of the Hiphop that is played most of the time there with all that bass and lyrics that make me want to hold my hand over my ears. Whenever I go to opera I bring ear plugs. It makes the sound more enjoyable to me.

I love the sound system at Love (NYC) no pun intended. It made the night so much better that everything sounded perfect when Tyas was spinning too bad the night was cut short.

Since we are being picky, the sound system at LOVE has too much treble (EAW Avalon for those who dont know what brand it is).

I liked LOVEs sound too, I am just saying, I think people are being over critical of Operas current sound. Sure its not the best but it sure is not nearly the worst. I know what perfect sound sounds like and I was simply pointing out that every club has its flaws. I really think that most every club has its flaws with sound, including hom, the forum, the mark, love, even club space in miami with its current sound. The only place I did not think was flawed was when club space 34 first opened in 2003. They had a massive amount of Dynacord Alpha in the main room back then. It was truely perfect, they have since downsized it and it is not perfect.

Plus, love is a much smaller room underground with no windows or places for the sound to seap in to.

Its not really worth trying to compare the two. Heck, for a couple thousand I could make my house sound pretty spectacular because I do not have as much room to fill.

the forum's sound is much more clear and louder than HOM's. HOM's was very good though. Did anyone ever watch the cheesey reality show the club based at club ice las vegas ? I remember one episode they showed the making of their soundsystem...:eyespop: :eyes: :eyespop: :eyes:...it was probably the best in the united states. That club cost like 11 million to open anyways or some . Always wanted to make it there before their demise.:(

In my opinion, Hom's sound was way better than the forum (I say this being a major advocate for the forum). The forum lacks a lot of low frequency response. Its still good and also houses the same brand and model sound system that LOVE in NYC has except the one at LOVE is better because there is more of it.

HOMs sound was meant to sound more like a studio than a club. And they did a really good job of it. So if you like a lot of music detail then HOM is for you, if you like loud then the Forum is for you.

?

The main room was twice the size of The Mark's, and there was basement with just as good sound. The night Burridge played in March of 08 there was no distortion and balanced everything perfectly. Don't think you had the same Höm experience.

And in response to the post above mine, correct. It sounded studio quality, not distorted blast so loud that you can't talk quality. BUT Opera still plays music so quiet that you can talk. Just a big buzzkill.

hehe, I live in Charlotte, I have been to hom on many occasions, anyhow. Homs upstairs (main room) legal capacity is 250 and The marks main room capacity is 300.

Anyhow, lets take two videos recorded with the same exact camera (bear with me here, I know that the camera cant fully let you hear the difference like you could if you were there)

One from HOM

And one from PVD @ Opera last week

Now what you can tell is there is no nails on a chalkboard bass level thats been described at Opera. My camera will let you hear it if it did exist, if you go through my videos you will find some that distort, not because its too loud for my camera but thats how it sounded when I was there.

I think the real problem here is that people are going off what Opera used to sound like before they upgraded their sound and have not been back since.

So you want me to go off of youtube videos taken by a digital camera rather than my own experience and ears? :wtf:

Höm's main room is also ONE ROOM, not two with a divider like The Mark. Their capacity may also include the stairs and front walkway area where no one stands. I'm telling you, there's absolutely no way you can compare the two by numbers.
