From the videos it looks like you were in the VIP area. I was on the main floor and it did NOT sound like that.

I went on the main floor as well and no issues with that either. I am pretty picky when it comes to sound, of course Opera was not the best I have heard but it sure was not the worst. It was a good medium that delivered more than I expected by far.

Your own experience? Where you even at paul van dyk @ Opera, have you been there since the sound was changed out or added to? If not, then please be quiet, your opinion of what you think it sounded like is not needed. The videos were to give you some kind of perspective.

I think what you guys are failing to even see through is I am saying the sound is not bad for the club. There are far worse sound systems out there that DJs have to play on in big clubs. If you dont like Operas sound, dont go to any other big club and expect anything better because there are not many other clubs in the states where a club holds 1000 or more people and the sound system sounds any better.

Yes I've been there before and after. It always sucks.

That club has sound regardless of its size. Have you ever been to Space Miami? Have you been to Studio A in Miami?

There is no excuse for Opera sounding like it does. I don't care how big it is.

of course I have been to space in Miami, I have been there probably around 30 times and guess what, their sound system does not sound anything like what it used to. So now, you can no longer use them as an example.

Studio A is no more and has not been for awhile. So maybe they put too much money in their sound system and did not know how to balance the budget.

You got any other examples besides space and studio a, because I can assure you, if its in the states and well known, i have been there. Really your arguing a losing battle.

Right now one of the best sound systems in a club thats still open in the US would probably go to Firestone in Orlando. Concert halls do not count...... most of them sound good because the bands and artist they bring in require a certain standard

It sounds worse than it used to, way worse. They used to have the Biggest Dynacord Alpha sound system in the states therefore it really was the best sound in the states when it first opened as Space 34 in 2003. Since they have expanded the club to include more usable areas in the club. The loft and they put a booth full time on the terrace (remember, i am talking about a timeline from 2003 to current). The VIP room holds the old EAW avalon sound system from the old club space. But they needed to get speakers for the rest of the club so they took the sub boxes and moved them around and split them up. They also took 6 out of 10 of their full range speakers and spread them between the terrace and the loft so now the main room only has 4 full range speakers and 2 smaller sub boxes instead of 4.

When I was there in 2008, it wasn't comparable to Opera. That's what I'm talking about.

I never said Opera was ever better than space. Its not, but until you can show me a club with as much open air as Opera that sounds better, I still think everyone is being too picky. Spaces main room is actually pretty small ever since they put the loft in.

I mean, if we are comparing sound systems of wherever to whatever then my car sounds better than any club I have ever been to thus far. Why...... because 2 grand worth of mids and highs goes a lot further in filling a small space. When it comes down to it you can not compare what you have heard in a smaller sized club to a big club with a ton of open air.

Anyhow, I think we got off on the wrong foot, if your going to be at NATC on saturday come find me by the lasers and I will buy you a shot. I am not trying to be an ass, I just have a lot of experience when it comes to sound and will voice my opinion.

If you're really that picky (because Space is almost as big), just wait until Dreams. I swear dude; I have zero clue how you can give Opera's system a second glance.

i don't think he's old enough for a shot yet...? if i'm remembering correctly....

I haven't been to enough "clubs" to be able to compare. All I know is that I've never been to a concert or dj for that matter where the sound was perfect. There is always distortion. I've been to Opera a few times where it didn't sound bad at first, but by the end of the night all the vocals were pitched and I couldn't really make out melodies. This was before I started wearing earplugs to everything. I know that doesn't solve everything, but to me loudness is the biggest issue. The Tiesto show at NATC was the absolute worst sound I've ever heard though. Hope it's not like that Saturday for you Dream Beamz. And by the way, I doubt Sam or anyone else will hold the discussion against you. We're all cool here.

Like I said about Bacardi, age doesn't really doesn't matter if you know what you're doing. ;)
