There is a difference between opinion and fact. If the pope said 1+1=3, and his people attempted to take that as fact, what would you do? Call them ing stupid. Well that is exactly what he is doing. He said that 1 (the condom) + 1 (sex) equals 3 (HIV/AIDS) when infact it equals 2 (NOT getting AIDS/HIV).

Unless, of course, it breaks (though I'm almost certain that you knew that). I really, really hate to defend the Pope here, but perhaps he didn't word himself correctly. I can sort of see what he's saying; you can remain sexually inactive and not get HIV/AIDS (through sexual activity). Or, you can use a condom and become sexually active, thus increasing the risk of the condom breaking, individuals getting too "into the moment" and doing something stupid, thus increasing their chances, etc.
Then again, he could just be off his ing rocker.

I understand the whole "don't have sex" mantra that they are preaching, but in the face of either sex with or without condoms, they still preach the same mantra. It is just whack.

Because they're against birth control. If any sort of sexual activity involves a form of birth control for any reason, they're going to be against it.
