| Be glad you weren't working in a group project with me. I'm the person who wants it complete at least a week ahead of time, and hands it in prior to the deadline date - with, or without your name. In fact, I also attach a little page that details exactly who did (or didn't) do what. |

A guy tried to pull something like that on a group I was in once. We just all got together and did a separate project and turned it in on the actual due date and told the teacher he was a psycho . Works every time. |

Oh no, I'm talking about a 15 page paper that needed to be written, and THREE days before it was due, no one with the exception of ONE guy had done anything! One girl wrote an intro/conc on the WRONG topic, and the girl that was supposed to write half of the body, never did it.
Basically two days before it was due, I had to write half the body, the intro/conc, find 4 extra sources, and do the powerpoint, BY MYSELF, because my "team" members said it "wasn't their problem". Um, YES IT IS. If we turn in a paper with two paragraphs when it's supposed to be 15 pages, we all fail, jackass.
One girl actually told me she could assist me... TWO DAYS AFTER THE CLASS WAS OVER :wtf:
//edit
mind you, I went to the instructor and showed proof as to how many times I had tried to contact everyone, as well as everyone's responses. (thank you, internet!) |

I was always turned off by group projects like that in college because more time was spent trying to figure out who's doing what then actual work taking place. Plus, there was always that one wannabe leader who would try to take charge and get all Stalin-esq on everyone. that "team building" exercise bull... in the real world, everyone's roles are usually defined (if you work for a reputable company) before the project even gets started.
In school, I mastered the art of finding the vulnerable attention seeking girl in those types of groups to do my portion of the work as I played dumb and fawned over her "brilliance". Worked like a chizzarm. Although, I like your method Zild... lol that's awesome. |

Er so yeah,
how do you guys deal with things you up on?
I just messed up a big assignment, I know I did when I handed it in, I passed, but barely.
I gotta say I am ashamed. I know some people can just shrugg stuff like this off, and I am trying to think of ways to rectify the situation. |
It's good that you care but remember to approach this issue with diligence. (great word!)
you should have a right to dispute a grade i think. |

| I always take the leader role because I know how to get done without micromanaging people. Peons need direction. Can't tell you how many times I've been in group situations where everyone is just sitting around staring at each other like a bunch of in zombies. DUH WHUT DO WE DO??? Ffs, guess I'll take charge. AGAIN. Not that I mind...but I like to give other people a chance. |

I actually believe that you would be good in the leader role and know how to get done... but unfortunately, too many people think the same way who can't get done and don't know how to manage that role, which is where a lot of problems with group work arise. thank god i'm not in school anymore! :D |
