THANK GOD. I'd rather deal with nit-picking perfectionists arguing over who's going to take on the most work than ing meek little bitches who don't know how to assert themselves.

Can't wait for grad school. So far away.

Those people that want to lead a group are never the right ones to do it.

This sounds exactly like my experiences in group projects - luckily grad school has been a little bit better, since everyone who goes to grad school is Type A anyway (and the projects have become more interesting).

um depends i had to do a bunch of group projects in grad school and not all type a. my roommate is getting two graduate degrees in two completely different areas at an ivy now and he has a lot of issues with group projects. some peopel are just lazy.

Damn, that sucks. I've still had some issues, though they seem easier to resolve than in past projects. I think some of it is also that we get assigned things that people generally want to do (interviewing officials, etc.) rather than just writing a research paper or something.

As a nerd/technical person I always thought leadership was complete bull and that the only real merit was in solid ideas and solutions. I had come to resent 'leadership' since a lot of the examples of 'leaders' that I had seen seemed like obnoxious incompetent people who wanted to run things just to fuel their ego. But I've realized it's the people with the ideas who have an obligation to step up and be leaders, even though it might not seem like the most natural thing to them at first.

I'll second that. Plenty of type A's in my grad school experience, but there was definitely no shortage of type B's. Doing presentations both solo and as a group was like a weekly thing, and I would sit in amazement all the time watching some people wondering, who the did they pay off to get into grad school?

My issue with group projects was dealing with the personalities involved, not the actual work.... plus I have that stupid irraional fear of speaking in front of people. I prefer to fly solo anyway.

good call, unless "those people" have a unique skill set among the group (and confirmed by the group) that would enable them to allow the group to succeed the most, again, with agreement from the group.

that will also build credibility for the next group project. but said person would also know when to back down when he/she realizes that another project may weigh more heavily on the strengths of another to enable the group to succeed the furthest.

hundred
by telling myself ill try harder and put in more effort next time, but usually end up slacking repeating what i did before, including telling myself to try harder and put in more effort next time

+1 to that. Imagine working a job where if you up.. people die. Now that is something to stress about.
