Oh no, I'm talking about a 15 page paper that needed to be written, and THREE days before it was due, no one with the exception of ONE guy had done anything! One girl wrote an intro/conc on the WRONG topic, and the girl that was supposed to write half of the body, never did it.

Basically two days before it was due, I had to write half the body, the intro/conc, find 4 extra sources, and do the powerpoint, BY MYSELF, because my "team" members said it "wasn't their problem". Um, YES IT IS. If we turn in a paper with two paragraphs when it's supposed to be 15 pages, we all fail, jackass.

One girl actually told me she could assist me... TWO DAYS AFTER THE CLASS WAS OVER :wtf:

//edit

mind you, I went to the instructor and showed proof as to how many times I had tried to contact everyone, as well as everyone's responses. (thank you, internet!)

LOL yea OK that is ed up.

Er so yeah,

how do you guys deal with things you up on?

I just messed up a big assignment, I know I did when I handed it in, I passed, but barely.

I gotta say I am ashamed. I know some people can just shrugg stuff like this off, and I am trying to think of ways to rectify the situation.

Well, there's pretty much nothing you can do to "rectify" it now. Just learn from it and move on.

I'm also the perfectionist, OCD type. :p

Mind you - I was setting it up so that children could understand. I would create threads that would be like "This is what's due THIS week from our team" and list it. Then I posted threads like "Vote for our topic by such and such date" "topic was chosen, volunteer for your role (and I'd actually spell out roles and divide them evenly)" "Post your progress here"... etc.

It was clear I was trying to at least stay on track. Ugh! I hate group projects

Funny thing is the teacher asked us in the beginning of the class: "how do you feel about group projects" and I responded that I hated them, I always ended up doing everything on my own, and I'd rather just skip that and have to do the project on my own from the beginning and not rely on anyone. She insisted it would be different this time around... Yea, I still ended up doing ALL of the work.

I actually believe that you would be good in the leader role and know how to get done... but unfortunately, too many people think the same way who can't get done and don't know how to manage that role, which is where a lot of problems with group work arise. thank god i'm not in school anymore! :D

I've really grown into the leadership role. I never really considered myself a leader, and I definitely had a lot to learn, still do...but the past couple of years it's been a recurring theme in school/clinical with my mentors. So this year I really focused on getting better at team dynamics and trying out different leadership styles...delegation, communication, etc.

My mentor last semester told me I HAD to do it, cause I was going to be put in the position more and more whether I liked it or not, lol. My big thing is NOT being a control freak Nazi. I've definitely grown leaps and bounds in being able to trust that my team mates will do a good job, and just stepping back and letting them figure their strengths and weaknesses on their own.

God I'm so ing anal, lol.

minor ones obviously yes but anything major no becaue that's not acceptable. its a fault of mine, i don't readily accept mistakes from others and hold myself to the same standard.

as for group projects, they make me nervous. i make sure i see things last so i can go through and "fix" everything. i don't particularly like to play well with others.

Reflect critically on the situation and analyze where/why you went wrong. Take it as a learning experience/opportunity for growth. Everyone s up...and ing up helps us to examine our weak points and improve upon them.

You'll get over it in time. Like Eternal said, taking accountability for it is the right step in a positive direction.

I now like you.

when we gonna change bed pans together? I may need the experience the wya i am going.

I always take the leader role because I know how to get done without micromanaging people. Peons need direction. Can't tell you how many times I've been in group situations where everyone is just sitting around staring at each other like a bunch of in zombies. DUH WHUT DO WE DO??? Ffs, guess I'll take charge. AGAIN. Not that I mind...but I like to give other people a chance.

This sounds exactly like my experiences in group projects - luckily grad school has been a little bit better, since everyone who goes to grad school is Type A anyway (and the projects have become more interesting).
