So let me get this right, because 30 Canadians died in 911 we should send more Canadian troops to fight and die so then maybe people like you will start to feel better? Or do you actually believe we can kill all the terrorists in the world once for all and we can live happily ever after? lol
You don't seem to care about the underlying problem, the terrorist hate the U.S because the Americans been ing around in the middle east for years and years, invading, manipulating, stealing and killing, and as long as that continues there will be more young kids growing up in the middle east with a strong passion to destroy America, and the less us the Canadians interfere in the middle east, the better our chances are of not ever being hit by the terrorists. |

and to be honest..if makes me howl that people can still throw the word "ignorant" around in the internet and GOOGLE age....information is at my fingertips ...just because someone has a differing point of view doesn't make them ignorant....so please, feel free to disagree but get off your high horse and realize your views are not doctrine..

Are you aware of the disparity between internet penetration rates and TV penetration rates in the USA, especially in rural USA? Canada is one of the most connected countries in the world because of the geographic location of most of its citizens. So much of the US population is out in rural areas. I think I hear a pot calling a kettle.... |

Yep, that pretty much sums up what America thinks of the rest of the world. |

you do realize that these terrorists are against basic 'Canadian' values?
democracy, human rights, equality whatever. stuff like that we take it as basis of a cultured society? |
Well, I'm with you on that. But truth of the matter is that to a large extend it's not just the terrorists but the Islam itself is against some of our values. On the other hand, some of our western culture is against their values, which is why it's important we stay away from the middle east and mind our own business.
| quote: | | in the end it doesn't matter for these nutjobs who they target, because their end goal is their perverted vision of Islam on earth. If it isn't the Yanks they target, it would be someone else. |
You mentioned an uberly important point and that's one of the reasons why the middle east issue is very complicated. But when I separate politics from reality I strongly believe that your point has been exaggerated to a very large extend in the western culture and there is no real treat of Islam invading the world or even trying to. The only government who really pretends that wants this to happen is Iran, now why Iran would never ever try to this is an entirely different discussion.
| quote: |
I give a rat's ass about humanity in general and I don't want heads like these Islamic fundamentalists on earth stealing my oxygen.
Sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich and hoping that all this will blow over isn't going to help.
So if you think a little girl in Afghanistan deserves to be ruled by Taliban and their wacky ideas and not have a chance to get basic rights that we Canadians take for granted, well. What else can I really say? |
The only case where I would be the ostrich with my head in the sand is if you actually have the solution and I'm just being stupid and ignoring the solution. But that is not the case, because going to middle east and killing a mix of innocent and extremists is not the solution and would only make the matter worst, again that's just part the problem. |

Hold on a sec.. did I hear this right??
"... Andrew Leslie, an unusual name for a man"
"ha - Leslie"
They sure have some SMRT and mature journalists working there -- wow.
(actually, I think using the word "journalists" is a little too credible...) |
