exactly. this is what drives me nuts about stupid threads like this.
yes, there is good cause to question authority. just because someone is an 'expert' doesn't mean their word is gospel. But WHO and other health officials didn't get to where they are by chance and they can't make decisions based on what happened with SARS or other issues that may or may not be relevant.
It's probably a safe bet that no one here has a ing clue what goes into true risk assessment for something like this. Mutations may/may not respond to current treatment options, increased air travel making spread so much easier with each passing year, etc.
just becuase the media may blow something of proportion, it doesn't follow that there's NOTHING to be concerned about. I don't know if travel restrictions, shutting down schools, etc. is an overreaction or not. that's why we have public health agencies...to assess and recommend courses of action.
but hey...TAs know best! lol |

Honestly, I could have been overreacting but I went to the doctors today because I was convinced I had the swine flu. I had every single one of the symptoms and because I work in the travel industry I was seriously concerned.
The nurse backed up when I told her my symptoms and they took such precautions with me. Pretty intense. Turns out I have bronchitis. Oink Oink. |

| Of course there's a flu vaccine. It's called THE FLU SHOT in Ontario...the swine flu is a different strain. |

vaccine is not a cure
vaccine is a preventative measure, but obviously you can still get sick even after a flu shot |
