One of his points is absolutely correct though.... we are part of the universe and we observe the universe... if you wish to believe that the universe is god then we are part of god observing god. The rest seems to be a deduction from that truth. |

Just as a point of clarification... PKC does not hate Christians; rather, he takes great umbrage with religiously motivated political activism (which is an entirely reasonable position). |

there was absolutely no reference to political activism in this entire thread. i think he really has a problem with spirituality because he consistently resorts to insults and crude disparagement. |

I think that most constructed models of God are implausible, ludicrous or impossible, and the idea is kind of silly. But it's not a logically or empirically debunkable concept. Certainly not currently evidenced or required by our current understanding.
What God really is, is the extent of the limits of our human mind. We cannot comprehend how something comes from nothing, and the notion of God(s) fills that void.

i believe in science and the universe. i believe the sun is our god. it's what keeps us alive:) we're all just balls of energy if you think about it. i don't think one man created us and determines our fate or decides who goes to heaven or hell. that sounds just plain old absurd. and i'm probably a better person than most people in church every sunday. i mean i don't lie or steal or treat everyone like dirt or rip people off every day...i'm forgiving, etc... i'm totally content with no religion in my life. religion is based on fear of hell and it keeps order in society. if people fear a consequence for their actions, they'll behave more. i don't need that to be a good person.
someone mentioned david blaine lol what if "jesus" was a david blaine walking around back in the day creating illusions, and mary wasn't a virgin, she just strayed from joseph and denied it till she was blue in the face and everyone thought it was a miracle that she was pregnant?:stongue: |
