ha, maybe. depends on whether z103.5 is mainstream? |
it is. It's BEYOND mainstream. And so is David Guetta. And also, in no way it it cool that DJs are crossing over into pop/rock/top 40 whatever. I think they're SELLING OUT, BIG TIME. House/techno is supposed to be about the Underground scene. It's about NOT having your played on the radio, but having it played by your respected DJ peers. The music is supposed to be "under the radar", played in warehouses, and lofts, and dodgy clubs that the average person is scared to go into. That's just my opinion though. The crowds at EDM parties are getting worse, and worse, and this cross-over phenomenon won't help this. It's honestly heartbreaking to me, and I'm going to go cry now. |

you're kidding me right?
this is just funny..I'm all about the underground but I also don't get indignant if an dj/artist decides to go mainstream....life is too short and in the end, it's all about the mighty dollar and mass exposure...
who commissioned you to pen the EDM bible..
ps. the song sucks balls.. |

so you DO agree then, they SELL OUT FOR THE MIGHTY $$$$. And that's bull. And honestly, do they even have to do that at this point??? Maybe back in the day, before the rise of the internet, but Producers/DJs have to be making more money than ever before with the popularity of Beatport and iTunes etc..... AND, their exposure has never been bigger (myspace/twitter/facebook)! give me a break. |

I never used the term "selling out" DJ's don't really owe me or YOU ...they can do whatever the they want and maybe some of them don't want to play dingy clubs for the rest of their lives. Get over it. I'm sure it's not worth losing sleep over..
holy crap entitlement.. |

there's a difference between bitterness and entitlement..... and you're right, at the end of the day, they can do whatever they want. |

WHAT THE IS THIS ?!?
Mistress Barbera used to be a *good* banging Techno DJ! Really..., really? April Fool's was two months ago...
Bad emo vocals (cmon, most of that singing was monotone!) on a badly done Moby-sounding beat (Hotel era) = :( |

her new singing thing sucks hard.
i like her as a dj though (even that barbara brown thing), but she is still the biggest cunt to walk the earth. She really thinks that she is special and i think her father should have beat her as a child. |

It's all about evolution of music and its an ebb and flow. What once was underground gets adopted by the mainstream. The underground will always exist and depending on what floats your boat you may find yourself at the dodgy clubs or secret lofts you speak of. But if your tastes tend to lean towards what used to be underground and have not evolved you'll find yourself on the floor at guvernment wondering what happened to your "scene". House, trance. "electro" (whatever that means) has moved into the mainstream and you have to face it. And its a GOOD thing! Radio play needs more diversity, and its clear that electronic music is influencing many genres.
For example rock has always been considered a polar opposiote of dance music (read disco's revenge) but there has been many new rock groups incorporating synths and basslines into their music (read: Franz, Metric, MGMT, Death Cab etc). Then on the other side of the coin you have DJ's forming bands bring rock into their basslines (read Adam Freeland, Alex Metric). Personally I'm loving both sides of this example. In the end if more people are exposed to new and interesting music the better we are all off even if it means commercial radio play. |

PLEASE SOMEONE, ANYONE, BRING KOS BACK AS A HEADLINER!!!! and please not to This Is London thank u.
/end hijack |
What about this? You asked for a lower rated Dj (and I use this term losely) who is moving up in the ranks to play a headlining set somewhere else... Sure this could be a warehouse, "underground party" or wherever... but one day, KOS will be mainstream... will you still love him then? A cry out to the local promotors to bring a DJ back is asking to have him play somewhere you dime as "worse and worse EDM parties"...
Singers get popular... Rock Bands get popular.... Video Games get popular.... DJs get popular...
It is what it is. I'm sorry you had to cry over this.
That's just my opinion though. |

1- she needs more of this: http://www.maccosmetics.ca/
2- KOS will never become mainstream, just a tag along d.j ( as good as he is). Kinda like Three and Sasha or Tommy Lee and Aero
3- this song really blows! |
