you're right. It is just the natural evolution of music. I'm just being a suck about watching electronic music move into the spotlight more so than ever before, and having to share it with ppl who never got it, but will listen to it now because it will be new and trendy and being played by hack DJ's in clubs everywhere. The music is becoming more and more "popular" everyday. It's just all a bit much lately with video games where you DJ, and running shoes that are marketed after DJs instead of NBA players! lol I'm just not ready for electronic music to be THAT commercial and appealing to the masses. Djs are becoming the new Rock Stars (egos, gimmicks, groupies and all). I just hate all things mainstream, so it's a hard thing to watch this materialize i guess, even know it's been a long time coming. |

She tried something different, she's an artist... don't prosecute her for it. Artists do it all the time, sometimes even MORE wide-range. Shaq tries to rap, Jordan tried to play baseball.... Hasselhoff tried to sing.
All good, artists will be artists.
Mistress Barbara on the decks is absolutely incredible, caught her a few times and never disliked a show, looking forward to her playing a live DJ set on the D2DBoat. Haven't seen her play in SO long, it should be a wicked performance.
Just cause she "missed"(wit this song to some) doesn't mean she failed, let's see how it does overall.
TOTA, always quick to judge and hate.... |

I agree. I really don't understand why people are saying she's selling out just because she chose to expand her horizons. |

What about this? You asked for a lower rated Dj (and I use this term losely) who is moving up in the ranks to play a headlining set somewhere else... Sure this could be a warehouse, "underground party" or wherever... but one day, KOS will be mainstream... will you still love him then? A cry out to the local promotors to bring a DJ back is asking to have him play somewhere you dime as "worse and worse EDM parties"...
Singers get popular... Rock Bands get popular.... Video Games get popular.... DJs get popular...
It is what it is. I'm sorry you had to cry over this.
That's just my opinion though. |
So, just because someone is a headlining DJ, that makes them mainstream? I never thought of it that way to be honest. Most "Big Name" DJs out there i wouldn't call mainstream. They're still on top of their game, still cutting edge, making a point of playing fresh NEW tracks (not what's being played on Z103.5), still love what they do, and not JUST because it's making them rich. They're still true to their craft, and haven't lost themselves in the need to be the most "popular" DJ. So, of course I'll still support KOS if he rises to that status, and i think he will! As long as he's still as talented as he is now, why wouldn't I! He's building a name for himself the respectable way, by working hard, and because he's genuinely good at what he does, and he's being recognized for that reason by Fanciulli and Sasha etc. Headlining DJs are more well known yes, but are they all mainstream?? I wouldn't agree with you there. |

Song is nothing special, but I see good potential for remixes.
All the "selling out" comments are just funny. Grow up people! Your so called "underground" is only left in the lyrics of the songs where they repeat the words "house music" twenty five %ucking times. |

Agreed as well, I think selling out has more to do with selling your music for commercials and ads or doing something you aren't about just for money. |

I think it's sad that you dont want to see DJs succeed and you don't want to 'share' EDM.
The more people that listen to EDM mean the more successful DJs, labels, clubs, promoters, etc. become leading to more growth in the scene.
You need people to support new clubs, djs, events/festivals....
There will always be an 'underground'- there is an underground in EVERY genre. But the idea of more people loving and supporting the music that I love excites me. The music and the scene is going to evolve, if it didnt something would be very wrong. Get over it.
I also think its funny when people complain about 103.5 music or music being in a video game. A lot of people in the scene heard their first EDM track on the radio or on the TV and thought 'hmmm cool Im going to check this out.' The scene needs new people in it to replace the old ones who are 'growing upn getting married, and leaving the clubs.'
If KOS produced a track and then it ended up on 103.5 (yes I know its unlikely) would you stop liking it? Like what you like, it shouldn't matter who eles is listening to it or where its being played. |
