How to transition from hip hop to house in a set

My friends and I have been playing all types of house from vocal/pop indie right down to minimal at the end of the night, on thurs and fri nights at a smaller bar. Someone that works for another place heard us and immediately we scored a gig at a bigger exposure/high visibility/high traffic/popular spot on sat nights. The dj that played there retired after some 10+ years. We were always baffled how he kept his job playing a mixture of old 90's trance/breaks/house with 2009 house and ... hip hop. We would get in conversations with our friends (scene heads) would complain such as "omg i cant believe he played rhythm of the night". The person that heard us and hired us was confident our modern sound appealed to a wide audience and would fit the bill.
Our first 2 saturdays, we played our typical show all night with slight success. The dancefloor would come and go throughout the night. The 3rd saturday, it was already 11pm and no dancefloor and started getting a lot of requests for hip hop. We have never had to play hip hop before. When the bartender had to leave the bar to come tell us people are asking for hip hop please play hip hop we finally caved in and my friend luckily has a stash of that angry crap for emergency situations. Of course the drunk bachelorette party got their wish and we had a floor going again. This was the beginning of the end.
The past 2 saturdays what we do is switch between house and hip hop throughout the night. Its frustrating because it breaks momentum and flow. We would like to play what we want to play but we dont have a strong enough following to outnumber the average joes in the place. There really is nothing you can do, people want what they want and we have no choice but to give them what they want because we're getting paid. It doesn't matter if we have a floor going with house and the 10 or so people are dancing nonstop and really into it, there are hip hop people that just refuse to dance to it or if they do they get bored and stand on the sideline and there are usually like 20-30 of them. So we're basically outnumbered. It depends on the night. The place is such a mixed bag, its like a common area, theres no cover so you have all kinds of people come through there.
Right now we mix intro/outro when shifting gears. Another time we use the cdj mode of the pioneers to drag the house down to hip hop tempo. But without breaking tempo I would like to find a solution that makes both crowds happy without resorting to hip hop. I'm looking for something that's house tempo that is hip hopish sounding. |

| There are loads of electro house remixes of hip-hop tracks. Good luck with them, though. It sounds like you're stuck DJing for a meat market where the crowd will only want one thing. |

| turn of the turntable when ur finished with hoppetihop and let it slowly pitch down while ur fading in a intro prog track with no beats in the start. pretend its a new dj coming in. |

i tried that last saturday a la fidget house and house with rapping over it but i didnt do that until the end before my turn was up, i think its worth another shot but have a feeling its more about the tempo than it is the content when it comes to these people.
Which leads me to research more into nudisco because the tempo is close enough to hip hop it seems more doable. We already start the night at 10pm with nudisco but its hard to find the good 100bpm stuff, most of the stuff i find is too atmospheric.
Check out this preview of a mix cd by hercules love affair, this is the type of nudisco im looking for, except even this set is a bit too fast (keep in mind half the tracks in this are actually pitched down late 80's newbeat, the other half is actual new stuff):
