What do you do about... (pg. 2)

But would you personally call them out? Or do you think that it is, indeed, better left for counselling? I mean, you'd have to tell the person you know they have a problem anyway, right?

I'm just wondering if/how much harm it would cause a person, psychologically, to call them out.

i dunno it just depends on how much it annoys you, you know? i mean if it's to the point where you can't stand listening to that person because you know they are full of , then i guess speak your mind if it will put you at ease and give them a clue at the same time.

sometimes people just need to hear they probably don't want to hear. i would imagine the "compulsive" part of it means that they do it as first nature and probably aren't aware of it and need to be made aware of it.

maybe instead of "calling him out" in a ball busting type of situation, just have a private talk with him and be like, "i'm just telling you this as a friend, but you are pretty much known as a compulsive bullter and you should tone it down a bit and stick with facts when talking because people are going to start being annoyed by you" type of thing.

if it's an aquaintance or just a 'friend,' then whatever, i see no reason to get in their business & let them figure out on their own their ways of lying.

however, if it's a gf/bf or a best friend or a close family member- call them out. i prefer things to be blunt and truthful even if it hurts. you calling them out shows that you love them and care, if not, you wouldn't bother wasting breathe.

Let them continue to do it.

small, big, theyre all annoying, atleast the big ones you can call out so easily. Its the small ones that you have no proof and just know theyre so full of it.

there is a big difference between pathological liars and exaggerators in my opinion. I know a guy who exaggerates things and that was always a part of his character, and he did it in a very entertaining and charming way(he often knew that people knew he was exaggerating). One thing I cant stand however is guys who rant and rave about the plethora of females they sexed, and multiplying their total by god knows how much. This is probably the most common lie told amongst males.

What is your take on white lies? Certainly there are situations where it is in everyone's best interest to lie. If i am chilling with a few guys from my childhood who are in the PKK for example, I have to feign my support for their marxist-leninist ideology, as well as their hate for Turkey, even if that is not what I truly feel...these are not the kind of people you can engage in a spirited debate with. It's really a matter of knowing where to draw the line between a white lie and flatout lie.

Calling people out is very awkward, I usually never do it.

Read the link I posted...pathological lying isn't the same as compulsive lying.

I don't know anyone that does this, so honestly, I don't know. I want to say I would call them out, but it all depends on the person. Are they emotionally fragile? If so, I would pretty much just leave it alone as I know I would be saying it in my nicest way possible but still come off as a total dick.

Yeah I wouldn't even associate with a pathological liar. I mean at least you can keep a compulsive liar around and make fun of them, lol.
