The person who's a compulsive liar, more often than not, does not believe in their hearts they are liars. So calling them out on it is an exercise in futility. |
this.
lying by omission is also obnoxious. |

I consider any willful non-admission of truth a lie or its equivalent.
One needs to be forthcoming with the truth to be considered truthful and honest. |

yea but sometimes i'm ok with a 'white lie'. sometimes people are just sensitive and they are better off not knowing that their recent ex was seen making out with someone new or you tell a white lie to avoid severe unessesary drama. you have to know what is an acceptable lie and what isn't. |

| I prefer tact over white lies. Not that I've never had to tell a white lie...but I will definitely seek out honesty first. |

yea i respect that. i'm just a moody person so i'm a big fan of "what i don't know won't hurt me" type of thing. i'd rather avoid drama or getting all worked up over something stupid than have "the truth".
and i don't at all mean i like to be lied to all the time, you know what i mean. obviously when it's something really important i want the truth. and i will dig and dig and dig until i get it too lol |

| No no, I get ya. Just saying I do agree with knowing what acceptable lies are vs. what aren't...but at the same time I think it's better to practice the honesty first policy. Just because what's acceptable and what isn't is pretty subjective. |

Two simple words: " off."
If you don't believe them, don't take them on and don't indulge their then they'll probably drop it fairly quickly. If they're the kind of people who end up believing their own lies, then at least you won't have to listen to them. |

| LOL, I think we all know someone like that. I had a classmate that was always making up trying to impress people. He couldn't hear anyone talk about something because he ALWAYS had a newer/better model. We called him McGyver. :stongue: |

This is funny, because just this week I met this friend of a friend who is the exact same type. Afterwards my friend started telling me of all of his stories, and this 's hilarious.
Best one was this: some dude was talking about how his dad got away with drunk driving. The officer made a gesture to pull him in, his dad made a gesture back like if he was saying hello to the officer, and just kept going without stopping. Nothing happened and he got away with it. So the compulsive liar dude goes: "YEAH? Well my dad once did the exact same thing, but then the cops came after him with 2 police cars and 2 vans. And A HELICOPTER. They followed him all the way to home, then he just parked his car in the garage and pretended nothing happened, and the cops went away." :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:
This dude also wears shoes bigger than his size - just to be bigger. :stongue: |
