The bartenders seemed to be cool too. |
For the best drinks in the club, go see Ernesto at the upstairs bar. You won't be disappointed. |

Anjunabeats djs for the win!
The new setup for the mainstage was excellent, as well....and the lights were extra cool, too. I hope they keep the stage like that :)
And I can't wait for daniel kandi! |

Oooooo... dream lineup of The Thrillseekers and Norin & Rad on August 22nd in the works? According to their MySpace page, Norin & Rad don't have an event scheduled on that date. |

I'll mention the idea in tomorrow's meeting. Thanks for the feedback guys! |

So the night did not start off on the right foot, as they say. Arriving at Circus, I handed the parking guys the postcard (that I picked up AT Circus a few weeks ago), and was told "there's no free parking tonight." I pointed out that the postcard (that I had picked up AT Circus) stated "free parking until 10:30 p.m." (and time was not an issue, since it wasn't even 10 p.m. yet), but again was told "no free parking tonight, it's $10." Got to the table and handed the postcard (that I had picked up AT Circus) to the hosts at the table and was given an admission ticket, but no drink ticket. Although the postcard (that I had picked up AT Circus) said "free drink until 10:30 p.m."), I was told "there are no free drinks tonight."
If most any other company advertised something and didn't make good on it, they would probably go out of business. I think there's even a California state law about it, but am not a lawyer... Now I won't say that this ruined the evening for me, and it's not completely about the money, but rather an issue of trust. What promotions will be done in the future and how can we believe that they will be honored at the door? Vanguard used to advertise $15 parking all the time, but then instead charged $20 and it's one reason I don't go there much these days.
I mean, how many people could have had these postcards, anyway? And most people who had them would have picked them up at Circus. If somebody f*cked up and changed the rules, then I just think it would have been better to go by what was advertised and then fix the situation next time (ie: truth in advertising).
I'm not saying this ruined my night, but when someone walks into a club and feels like someone pulled a fast one on them, are they still going to enjoy the evening as much, spend as much and have as good of a time? I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't.
Overall, I thought the music was good at Circus. I could definitely tell when Andy came on, as the music went to a new level and had a different feel that I really liked. A few too many songs that I've heard a few too many times before, but overall a great set.
Toward the end of Andy's set, someone pointed out to me that Martin Roth was hanging out backstage, and I was hoping against all hope that he would close the night after Andy. The next DJ's transitioned to a harder, darker sound, and seemed like a lot of people left when Andy did. To be in the same room as Martin Roth and not hear him DJ is heartbreaking! lol
Both the floor and stage seemed very dark so had to trash most of my vids and pics, but a few made the cut. The volume was ok to me during Norin & Rad's set (Trin even asked me), but I think it went up later, maybe after Andy came on. In one video that I took, Andy looks at someone, points to his right hear and asks if the sound is o.k. or if it needs to be turned up. I was getting some discomfort in my right ear, and that really shouldn't happen when using 32db foam earplugs! Maybe it would be a good idea to do some random "how's the volume checks" later in the night, especially after a new DJ comes on.
Also, more people at Circus than I've seen since...since...since...maybe the old Spundae days? I saw Gil backstage too, are they taking it back over?

WOW Don! I could've sworn you were having a good time! You sure fooled me. :sadgreen:
PPL that don't like air shouldn't stand under the air and those that say it's too loud, shouldn't stand by the speakers. :happy2:
I usually move around and look for a spot that isn't going to bother me. ;) |
