Excessive Photography in Nightclubs

I know many will disagree with me, but this has been something that's been on my mind for a while.
It seems that every time I go out, I'm being constantly bombarded with camera flashes. Whether it be someone trying to take a picture of their friend with me in the background, someone trying to take a picture of me, or worst of all, a photographer taking a crowd shot with a seizure inducing flash. I end up being in tons of different pictures that I didn't give my permission to be in, and then these pictures get posted on Facebook, also without my permission, for all the world to see.
I know it's hard to help being in the background of friends taking pictures of each other, but club photographers are a different story. I think that at this point in time, there are just too many of them. It gets annoying when it seems like every time a build in a track happens, even on just a regular resident night, flashes start going off every where. Is this really necessary?
This may seem like an attack on club photographers in general. It is not. Some of you are really talented, and help bring back fond memories of great nights out. However, it is a bit excessive when it's come to the point where you have 2-4 professional photographers snapping pictures at every turn in a small club on a regular night.
Am I the only one who feels this way? |

well we could do montreal style and not allow any cameras in clubs.
and cut off professional photos at 3 a.m. for the big parties. that would be so sweet. no sketch photos allowed. |

I somewhat agree - blinding flashes in a club is a big pet peeve of mine
I hate being blinded to the point I start getting headaches :( |

i agree with you.
i think the root of the problem is there are just too many nightlife websites in general. everyone wants a piece of the pie.
in regards to permission for being in photos... there is no permission. photographers really only ask permission as a courtesy.

| I like the idea of no cameras in a club unless you have written permission from the club to have a camera. |

many years ago most clubs had a no camera policy unless you are a working photographer but digital cameras and camera phones have become so popular that the rule is no longer in place. |

Videos irritate me a million times more. Why in the world must you spend the entire evening taking videos on your ty phone or camera and waste the entire party gurning and starring at the screen?
Then.... when it all comes down to it... the video is all bouncy and sounds like . Hahah when will people get this? |

Strobe?
You can't stop drunk people from playing with their cameras, in any setting, that's just life.
But in all honesty, with the sound, the lights, and people, I just don't notice them that much. |

unfortunately, cutting off pro's at 3am does not work at big events and there are two main reasons for it....
1. often times there are djs that go on after 3am
2. promoters/organizers want pics of the entire event
i usually put my camera away around 4am. i hate walking around late and people grab me and ask for pics while they are all bug eyed. |

funny that you say that because you hire photographers for footwork... unless you mean no cameras for patrons. |
