funny that you say that because you hire photographers for footwork... unless you mean no cameras for patrons. |
It's the 100+ extra cameras that bug me, not the professional photographers... |

Pro photographers don't mind me that much - hardly even notice them.
It's the sea of LCD screens as everyone and their pet dog tries to record crappy-quality video of a build up. They seem to be more concerned with documenting the event than enjoying the event.
Put the phones away and dance FFS! |

ahhh yeah that bugs me too.. especially when im on stage doing work and people are taking pics of me but whatever.
what i dont understand is why people bring their little cameras to places where fog/haze is used and their camera flash cant even cut through it so the picture turns out all white-washed. |

unfortunately, cutting off pro's at 3am does not work at big events and there are two main reasons for it....
1. often times there are djs that go on after 3am
2. promoters/organizers want pics of the entire event
i usually put my camera away around 4am. i hate walking around late and people grab me and ask for pics while they are all bug eyed. |
malek will probably have more info about this but from what i understand for example at back and blue, there were people with different level clearance. and at 3 a.m. the higher level clearance people got to keep their camera and take pictures of the DJs but not the crowd or not as much of the crowd and there were way less of them.
lol. we used to do before and after the party photos. go in all nice and come out "nice". |

many years ago most clubs had a no camera policy unless you are a working photographer but digital cameras and camera phones have become so popular that the rule is no longer in place. |
doesn't mean it can't be reinstated. |

| I think with the advent of more technology being built into wireless devices (i.e. cellphones, etc) the inevitability of seeing increased flashes cannot be avoided. The club can ask event photographers to back off after a certain time, but I can't see how they can stop the patrons from snapping shots throughout the night. You'd have to ban cellphones from the club completely... and that'll never happen. It's too late for that. |

I disagree. Some random has no interest in photographing me - but club photographers take pictures of everyone. That's the whole point. Plus their cameras are massive and they lurk around trying to getthe perfect impromptu party shot. How many shots do we need from behind the DJ booth at footwork? every single week - same ol thing.
I don't find personal cameras in clubs intrusive at all - I hardly even notice them. Probably because most people get bored of taking pics quickly, and sooner or later just focus on dancing and having a good time. |
