You see the problem?
For most of them, it helps them "have a good time" because they use the lights in conjuction with stuff they put into their body. Gee, what are those two people standing around that guy doing with their eyes crossed and while getting the glow sticks waved in front of their face. |

Haha, it's sad cuz I agree with both sides here.
I am there for the music, but I like to have a good time. I always dress differant for raves(white pants, care bear backpack, Kandi, etc) but at clubs I am jeans and a polo. I club completely sober. Gotta have abbalance, I'm not an old man yet....
Ruby Skye was a total "rave" when Kyau & Albert were there a few weeks back. I live how diverse crowds there can be from one event to the next!
It's interestinghow you guys are so quick to put down something. Like why does it matter to you if someone chooses to add something to their experience? And on the other side, why does it matter if someone chooses not to?
The EDM scene should be the most open scene out there! I know the drugs make a bad name for events but that won't go away! Hip hop, rock, EDM, country, they all have there drug of choice! You either have too much weed, E, meth, or booze no matter where you go! |

I thought that your name came from your glowstick prowess. But maybe that was WAY "back in the day". |

| What I find puzzling is all the people just standing around when eDm is playing. And regarding what people put in their bodies - alcohol and tobacco are among the worst. |

regarding what people put in their bodies, no one here is judging, but only in america are some people incapable of being on drugs without being completely obvious about it with sweaty faces, rolled back eyes, hanging/grinding/clenched jaws and heinous facial expressions looking like they are completely detached from reality. the glowing toys are a pretty reliable indicator as well, which is why they are banned at clubs in some states. alcohol and tobacco are pretty bad drugs, but the speed in many pills is much, much worse.
regarding people standing around when edm is playing, in my experience this is most prevalent in trance crowds, especially if the trance being played sucks ass (ie: emo vocals, long builds, or just anything that's played out). if you want to be in a crowd that is constantly twisting and shaking to the music, try house music. on the other hand there are types of edm that are meant to be appreciated without dancing, like live acts such as hybrid or trentemoller. |

add what you want to your experience to the extent that you don't detract from others'. the only people who appreciate glow sticks are the glow stickers and the zombies that stare at them. to everyone else who is there to appreciate the music for the music and is capable of doing so without light shows, it ruins their experience because it's quite hard to ignore a glowing light being waved around in a dark room or the faces being illuminated by them, much like it's hard to ignore a hairy naked man with a greased up hard-on dancing next to you at lovefest. |

Plus half the time it causes a group on the floor just to stop still staring into the lightshow which screws up the vibe of the people right around them.
It's just annoying.
That said, still think it's your choice. Just have to know what the non-zombies around you largely think about it all. |

| of course it's always your choice to do what you want in the club, and as strongly as i detest glow sticks, i won't say anything to your face if i see you doing it, nor will anyone else, but it's annoying to everyone and you should be aware of that. it's especially annoying when you've brought someone new to the scene into the club for the first time and there they are. there's no quicker way to make that person question what she's doing there. that's one of the reasons why i take first timers to house and techno parties rather than trance ones. there might be people all ed up out of their minds there, but you wouldn't be able to tell. |
