oh , I forgot about Boogie Nights. I love that movie... loved Wahlberg in that too. haha... man he was perfect for that role.

yes good point. he was amazing in boogie nights.

i have so much respect for him...he really came a long way since marky mark and the funky bunch and has more than proved himself as a talented actor.
CONNERMAN2000
I actually enjoy Keanu Reeves. But moreso because of his cool aura, not his acting chops. I think he just looks the parts he plays...but he's not meant for Shakespeare.

He was awesome in Speed (why does his performance in this get overlooked...I thought it was perfect for an action movie, and I can't imagine any other actor playing this without making it look...off). He was also good in the Matrix trilogy, Devil's Advocate, A Scanner Darkly, The Gift, Constantine...I think he was perfect for those roles.

But like previous posts have mentioned, it's all about his casting. Roles like Johnny Mnemonic, Hardball, Sweet November, Much Ado About Nothing and Dracula were horrid. And he has a bunch were he is just kind of 'there', and doesn't really add anything. (The Lake House, Feeling Minnesota, Street Kings, etc.)

Anyways...for best and worst acting performances...

Best:

Jim Carrey - The Truman Show : Thought it was perfect for his personality and animated acting style. One of his first dramatic outings as well.

Joe Pesci - Casino : Some may say his Goodfellas performance ousts this one, but I have a hard time picking a favorite. His character in this is ing wild and does whatever his mind puts him to.

Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump : Cliche, perhaps, but perfectly cast and perfectly acted.

Brad Pitt - 12 Monkeys : He was nominated for an Oscar in conjunction with this part, and I think it was well-deserved. What a crazy performance.

Tommy Lee Jones - anything he's in, but the Fugitive and U.S. Marshals need special mentions.

Val Kilmer - The Saint : I wish Mr. Kilmer was still the star he was 10 years ago, but everybody's career has to come to an end at some point...a very enjoyable performance in an entertaining movie.

I'll have to think a little bit for the worst..

couldn't agree more. Best scene is teh club scene. Alittle tribute to Paul Oakenfold's Ready Steady Go Track as well.

Tru Wahlberg was good in boogie nights n the departed. But still not impressed apart from those. Only proves he plays idiot n Bostonian well. lol

Connerman totally nailed sum movies. The Saint N Pitt in 12 Monkey's INSANE.

In regards to Nicolas Cage, I thought he was actually pretty good in Matchstick Men... though that could've just been good casting.

Good call on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Also, to the person that didn't like Ray... I really thought Jamie Foxx absolutely nailed that role, personally.

Tom Hanks in The Terminal, The Green Mile... well, just about anything. He's quite versatile.

Brad Pitt & Edward Norton in Fight Club.

Actors that make me want to punch my own face in: Brenden Fraser, Paul Walker.

nicholas cage was great in raising arizona. he pretty much sucks and has 2 facial expressions. If he was not coppola's nephew he would probably be a jizz mopper at a peep show:p

nicholas cage in conair was HORRIBLE.

i used to hate him but then i saw matchstick men and now i love him.

I think Jamie Foxx was amazing in Ray, and really shined in The Soloist. His music is a joke, but that's another story.

Nicolas Cage was great in Wild at Heart, but think that was more down to casting than his skill. Wasn't too shabby in Leaving Las Vegas. I think he just gets offered gobs of money to do huge movies now and he takes it. It is a job after all. I'm not a fan though.

Tom Cruise owned in Tropic Thunder. The guy can act when he wants to. He just relies on that super intense face too much and calls it acting. Christian Bale apparently agrees.

Denzel is the best Denzel there is, cause he's done it over and over again so many times.
