i do not see the use of cameras. Hidden or not, the crime happens at night = bad visibility. On top of that, the person for sure wears concealing clothing. so ya, this person comes, does his thing, leaves, and what do u have a silouhette of the person? whats the use? to say that the suspect is male? even then sometimes u cant even tell. unless the person comes say hi to the camera and shows a paper with his name and phone number he will not get caught. also, cameras wont prevent the crime. i just dont see the point.
there are other more hi tech systems then just cameras out there, and i think they could use 1.
a sick sprinkling system could help too i guess.
meh. who the hell cares now. too late.
the priority is not to catch the guy its to prevent him from doing it
a couple surveillance cameras and some action driven insomniac planted inside the club with a screen displaying the perimeter

As organizers of Sensation Montreal, we must state that comments implying that our company may be implicated in this incident are defamatory, completely senseless and reflect a true ignorance of the deep nature of the electronic music scene. Reality is that this type of mischief carries a lot of negativity towards the whole Montreal club community, and nobody profits from this.
Much to the contrary, everyone will end up losing in the long run. An incident such as the one that currently afflicts Stereo will only serve to reinforce the popular belief that the electronic music scene is unsafe and ruled by criminals. Furthermore, as a result of this, we may experience even higher political pressure tactics from local authorities who could seek to forbid the presentation of events such as ours, and jeopardize the livelihood of those clubs that feature this specific musical style. The legal terms and rules by which events and clubs have to abide are already extremely restrictive. An incident such as the one that took place at Stereo will surely help to fuel opposition by those who consider that the current rules aren’t tough enough.
The reputation of our city will also be affected since agents based abroad, who work directly with international DJs, definitely will resent this situation, and may reconsider to book those artists in Montreal because of the risks involved. What may happen now? All the efforts and progresses made over the years by serious organizations to satisfy legal and security requirements—and allow the presentation of events such as Sensation Montreal, along with the efforts of all the clubs located in and around the city—will be have been useless and vain. Clubbing may once more become unsafe because events would be held in spaces that offer no commodities, no emergency exits, nor proper security. The reputation and credibility of the electronic music scene will be undermined. Some of us may still dream of the warehouse party and rave era, but fact is that most of those events were poorly organized and unsafe.
Should we really aim to move backward? This worst case scenario may happen if everyone keeps on pointing the finger at imaginary culprits. Right now, what the electronic and club scene really need in Montreal is to stay united.

just thought I'd share that Gazette post with you, very well-written. I just wish those guys would put just as much though into their events too :p

When it comes to a crime , i use a very simple logic that all investigators do too is asking the question
"WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE INCIDENT ?"
with this question you can align a couple of suspects and from there you can investigate
This crime is not a random one, this is the 3rd time it happens
the first one was a small fire, the second burnt the place down and this is the third attempt
Possible suspects are many, now let the police investigate and try to find out who it is
From our side all we can do is stay united and help stereo get back on its feet and re-open, coz this will be a strong msg to the perpetrator of the crime, you can try to burn down the place again and again, and we will build it back time after time.

or it could be a strong message to stereo:
you can try and reconstruct stereo again and again
but well burn it down again and again
and its a stronger message to stereo cause it only took a couple of minutes to ruin a full years work
so they can bust their ass and their wallet but whats the fruit if it keeps on getting burned?
deficit
i mean hope is cute but until i can credit, good luck care bears
