A reliable source just called me & told me that damage was minimal, only the entrance, didn't touch the main part of the club at all. There may be hope after all.

Even if this was the case, I doubt the police would let the club open so soon after an act of arson.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm waiting for an announcement from Stereo staff.

Obviously I'm not talking about this w/e. I'm saying repairs might not take that long.

no there doesn't....you can have twenty fires right after the other and as long as there is coverage under the policy then it will be covered. You may have policies that only cover a certain dollar amount over year but just because you have one loss doesn't mean you can't claim another loss for x amount of time.

unfortunately yes some insurance policies have clauses in them if you exceed a certain amount of claims in a certain amount of time they will not cover you, i'm saying some... there is a family we know of thru a developer (here in ottawa atleast) who had two minor fires where they claimed some repairs thru insurance and a year later they had a fire burn their house to the ground and they werent able to receive anything from their company.. It all depends how good your policy is ... so i'll assume there is a great policy in this case .. ;D

I've been in the insurance industry, handling claims, for 14 years and I have never heard of a policy like that....I think there is more to this denied claim then "sorry you've had your allotted number of claims for this year".

Probably one of the worst days of the year for me. Hearing this while having the most stressful opening work days has taken a toll on me today. I was in denial and was hoping my friend was playing a really awful trick on me, but after seeing this thread, my heart is broken a little bit.. Whoever did this must have an ice cold heart; a lot of people worldwide are going to be torn because of this. Why ruin (try to) the rebirth of a clubbing gem just before it's reopening?! Who are these people?! There must be some connection between both fires.. someone does not want this place to be in business... and that's really sad. I'm not going to lose hope though! My best buddy's mtl bachelor weekend MUST go on.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll still open. If not, next best scenario would be to hold these events somewhere else just for this weekend. :( :( I hate my life 2009...

Trancission
That really sux, especially for the owners and the people who have been working really hard to re-open it but I beleive that no one should accuse or blame any party unless they have a real proof.

ChemEnhanced
I blame all Canadians for this.

hold out *some* hope for this weekend people. supposedly it's not as bad as it looks. i was told that nothing is official as of yet, and that it could be ready to go soon.

but like i said in an eariler post, i was told that a year ago as well.
