i feel ya man, hate it as much as you

lost 3 good friends from high school when they decided to join the army, one of whom commited suicide shortly after going back. saw em all on a daily basis, hung out, had good laughs, all that . another friend who went, a building collapsed on him and he was in a coma for a few months, was a damn good kid, great student, great athlete, but his patriotism got in the way of making use of his smarts and skills. now, he's mentally handicapped.

lenazi
sorry to hear that rob.

Once again this rant is hypocritical because my friend is not the first to have died in service to his "country".

What makes me mad is that there is no reason of our own to do this other than fulfilling obligations to a country that we do not belong to. As i have said before, i was military to pay for school....but i was not getting shot at or IED as UN.

We have a proud military past as Canadians, on D Day we went further than any other country in land against the nazis. (yeah i am fascinated with hitler but it ends there.) The thing is, we were actually fighting for something then. When i was in the ex Yugoslavia, it was not war, it was about helping a population that wanted help to become civilized again.

This war is about fighting savages that do not care about us. I do not want to say that our boys that dedicate themselves to this "cause" are doing so for nothing, but to be honest we are only fulfilling political promises as a neighbour to the "leader of the free world".

There has been zero 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 (for emphasis) terrorist attacks on our soil. Why? I don't know...but my guess is that we are only "peace keepers" and generally do not fight if the cause is not just or that if our gov makes promises that they must keep.

I'm smashed yes, but me if i have to have another friend come back in a box for an act that was not even against them. WW1 and WW2 was justified, this is just bull.

Thats the thing though, both in Canada and the US, both of us have no conscription.

I am not saying that these wars dont suck, but to make it seem like its soldiers being exploited is a fallacy.
