That's like saying you're training with one of the top 100 players in the world for underwater hockey.

Nothing brings a tear to my eye faster than to see society’s lower classes losing their lives in the armed forces to ensure the continued dominance of the propertied nobility, and to protect a system of social & political stratification that has done nothing but force them into frontline sacrifices. Why should the wealthy and powerful work to protect their interests when there is a slew of young, dumb, poor & directionless youths all too eager to bear that burden for them?

This is why I support universal conscription.

the thing is, that he was not low class. Call him an idiot for not making the difference, but he seriously wanted to make the world a better place. I told him how wrong he was, you do not have to, but in a sense he thought that if he would die, that he would die for a cause.

I do not want to sully a friend's name, but he did not die for something worthy:(

yeah, im just taking the piss. i certainly dont agree with everything the military gets up to, and consider many of them moronic thugs. but i still have a respect for somebody that puts their body on the line in combat.

re my earlier comment tho, the armies have long trolled the more socio-economically challenged for the base of their recruitment.

im sorry for your friend though.

wealthy people shouldn't have to die in war
lenazi
no problem.

at least i get a day off and at least i get to get faced with his dad.

it's not fun, but that is what drinking is for. I'm not bill gates by any means, but i joined the army for a paycheck and school. This guy really thought he could change the world, pretty stupid imo, but honorable that you would dedicate to trying to make things batter aka more than i would do.

if anything, he was irish....so i will be too drunk to cry:)
