I'm a pretty good "cheater"... plus, I don't have any strict regimen or goals other than "don't wanna get fat", so I allow myself a lot of leeway ;)

Heh yeah.

this is why being a hockey fan is harder than being an nfl fan.

there are 82 games for temptation. I love it when i go to a game, my friend eats 100$ worth of and i'm weighing my pretzels and drinking diet fresca:p

anyway my point is, i have a feeling that once i have kids, i'm going to turn into some little exercise freak and be taking them out for walks/runs in those cool sporty strollers and always preparing super healthy meals. i'll probably be in better shape after having kids than i am now. i know it sounds weird but i'm the type of person who needs a REALLY good excuse to be like that, and i can't think of any better excuse than being in charge of another life.

Sorry, I thought the kids remark was about hang-overs...

I don't have to either. I never really gain weight. I just decided to start doing while I don't have to, so that it isn't hard if I ever do. ;)

Counting calories is stupid for sure. If you eat right to begin with it's completely unnecessary.

LOL i thought you were talking about generally getting out of bed on a normal day. i was thinking, "damn you feel sorry for yourself whenever you get out of bed for your kids?" :stongue:

It was just a way to start "eating right" for me. I know it isn't foolproof, but it was a start to eating better than the 2 - 3 fast food meals a day I started getting in the habit of.

I've been focusing mostly on getting some low calorie meals with good carbs and protein. Trying to get some energy back in my life, since I've been feeling so run down (for obvious reasons).

I just feel like if you're counting calories, you're doing it wrong/approaching nutrition the wrong way. But I do see how it's a good place to start for a beginner.

i'm all over the place. i pretty much eat a balanced diet but i don't stress about eating pasta or bread like a lot of women i know who have to. i'll devour a pizza one night, and then make shrimp stiry fry over brown rice the next lol i definitely have salad and/or avocados on a daily basis. my favorite snack ever. in fact, i'm going to make a salad for lunch with a scoop of white albacore tuna salad on the top and italian dressing

I actually kinda do it in waves. I'll count calories and such for several weeks and be really strict with myself (as well as eliminate soda, most candy and obvious "naughty" food items), and then fade out of it and do whatever I want, and then rein it back in. I do it this way intentionally, just to keep myself somewhat disciplined.

And, I can't say anything too bad about the calorie counting thing. My little brother lost like 60 pounds doing that (and a bit of exercise). I'm not trying to lose, but still... I was proud of him.
