What about it is humane? Many cows don't die from the blast to the head and are still dying when they're gutted and skinned. |

| I'll also add, that cows, chickens, pigs, cannot understand death, or that their death is imminent. That's not to say they can't feel pain which is why slaughterhouses are supposed to do it quickly and as painlessly as possible. As for the dolphins, I think that video is pretty clear they were very much aware of their imminent death, and such a gruesome death at that... |

Actually, well in the UK anyway. Once the bolt goes into the head, a metal pole is inserted and is used to destroy the brain incase the bolt didn't work. One of my lecturers was an RSPCA inspector and told me that they had to spend 2 weeks in a slaughter house to practice euthanising animials. Not always the most humane but still... |

It's simple, we control the reproduction of cows. This has nothing to do with dolphins being cute. It's the fact that 1) they are a lot more intelligent that cows and b) that we have no means of controlling their population.
In fact many would argue that there are too many cows and sheep in the world today. |

A) dolphin's are being killed for meat
B) cows are being killed for meat
If you look at these dolphins alot of them are listed as least concern. (conservation status)
I am playing devil's advocate here but clearly it seems you are nit picking between mammals.
This is analogous to eugenics in a way. |
