When it's not a good VJ, Ruby's lighting can be generic. But when the VJ is good or really into, the lighting can be insane. I'm not sure how it's been the majority of the time the last several months, but yeah....on a lot of nights I agree, just not much to the it. On others, I'd be mesmerized.
This all said, the exact same thing can be said for 1015. I remember when there would always been great VJs controlling the lights at 1015. Marie is good. But I haven't heard of anyone or seen else controlling the lights there making the system stand out. And although I can't say how it's been lately, the times I went the last year I was there it always seemed different random people would be controlling the lights throughout the night. And the lighting was just as generic as it can be at Ruby's.

i'm gonna try to make it to this, i've seen cl and j00f at both clubs for years and nothing compares to killer psy beats at 1015, only thing better would be both of them at 1015!
if j00f is on for 4 hours can i assume 1-5am?

Each venue has its own appeal to each of us. thats the good thing of sf clubs. should realize how lucky we are in sf is compared to other large usa cities.. suggest not hating on one or the other. doesn't make sense or help "our" scene.
if ya wanna hate then go ahead be negative, bitter, jaded, closed minded, childesh & 2 faced (you know who you are. if you choose to be this way dont even come around cause ya aint welcome)
dave as per 1015 lighting/main room redo. club will stay open during redo. while its taken some time for the lights to get positioned right & get new/correct console for them it is now almost %100. :)

Taj, that's awesome to hear. Been waiting to hear about a main room rehaul (as the balcony does not count to me :p)...well,l ever since people started talking about any type of rehaul for the club, circa 2002-2003. :)

Nope, sorry, going to Ruby Skye to see Christopher. So are most everyone I know. Sounds like you've got your core group for 1015, so hopefully good turnouts for both clubs.

Hey Taj, not hating on the club. I just think it really lacks in the visual aspect of things. Seems many prefer it that way i guess cause it feels like just a dj booth and a room - but compared to other clubs nowadays, its hard to compete and get amazing turnouts for non superstar djs with just that. The visual aspect adds to pulling people in who just want to go out and listen to good music. To get people to come to a dj there over somewhere else its hard to do with whats in place currently. You did say added light - i dunno if it was there at push's set, but it didnt really add much. Maybe with an entire room decoration the light will stand out but its still flat. Thats all I was saying. Looking forward to the massive renovation.
Not gonna hijack anymore haha. This event will be great - great dj and the kryo will be sick.
