There are not two opposing groups of people in the electronic music world. There are a variety of people who like different genres for different reasons. For example, there are people who really only like classic trance but no longer go out because they know they're not going to hear it anywhere. There are the people who like progressive house, drum 'n' bass, et cetera.
When it comes down to it, I think that 90% of punters are usually so off their faces on pills and full of hero worship at Armin and Tiesto concerts that it doesn't really ing matter what is played. If Union Jack was played they'd be happy to dance to that too, though perhaps once they were back home and sober they wouldn't be so open to something without vocals and an emotional breakdown.
You're right, of course. I forgot to mention the one caveat to my argument, namely that this all owes to the lack of risk taking and concern for making money by the figureheads of the scene.
I guess you can't truly write this off until people actually have the balls to try these tunes out on a larger scale, but my concern nonetheless remains that people have been fed with obvious tunes for so long that they don't really want anything else. This is especially true when you consider how much epic trance is/was geared towards the consumption of pills (hello Gatecrasher!).

depend, in many other countries trance is pretty new and fresh, and kinda underground, not many people know about it, only a handful small die hard fans, but slowly more and more people know about the beauty of this music :)

It may sound weird, but I find my main problem with the newer stuff is just how "clean" it all sounds, kick drums are too crisp.
