So... I am sure there are a lot of you who have gotten your pearly whites worked on, and I know there are a few of you who don't have naturally perfect straight teeth.
I wanna know, how was the whole 'braces' thing? Did it hurt, was it worth it? How much did it cost?
For sake of conversation, what other dental work have you had done? Did you need to have molars removed for the braces?
What about wisdom teeth removal... how did that go?
Anyone have issues with receding gum lines?
Tell me your dental stories! |

Yea, I wore braces. I think they were about $2k. The only bad thing about them is sometimes the wire would poke out by the back teeth and stick my cheek. The worst part though were these tiny little rubber bands they had to stick between my teeth for a few weeks before the braces went on, to space my teeth out correctly. That was annoying.
I had one molar pulled because a root canal didn't work. Was fine during/after the procedure, but it in KILLED after the anesthetic wore off. It felt like the pain was more from the anesthetic injection site than where the tooth was pulled, though. |

had braces in middle school to close up some gaps, and then i didn't wear my retainer as directed and some of the gaps came back but they are really little and only between a couple of teeth on the top teeth next to my incisors.
anyway, one of these days when i can comfortably afford it, i'm gonna go and get a cleaning and whitening and 2 porcelin veneirs (sp) on my top incisors instead of trying to close the gaps again.
the end. |

I had braces but my rents paid for it when I was in Middle School/High School so I have no idea how much it cost. Had them for about 18 months - didn't really hurt that bad.
Other than that, I've never had any cavities or anything like that before.
OH - but they did give me a "permanent retainer" with my braces - BIG mistake. They stuck it on too tight and it's cemented to my mouth. So this year I have to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed plus removal of that bar. :(
In conclusion, get a good dental plan! |

I had braces for almost 3 years :( Got them at age 13
I had a crazy cross bite, had to wear a retainer, elastics, bite plate - the works. I ing hated it. Nothing but pain and constant discomfort, cuts in the mouth and no popcorn :(
It cost my dad close to $5000 to fix my teeth. Thanks dad <3
My bf has them now --- only 2 more months left for him! woot woot!
poor bubba is such a little suck when he gets them tightened |

| i moved to japan after getting braces and they weren't very popular in japan at the time so all we could do was find a japanese dentist and he could only give me a cleaning, not really adjust my braces. had to wait until my visits back to the states for adjustments. i was only supposed to have braces for a year but it ended up being almost 3 because of that. |

Luckyly teeth are the one parth pf m body that i have absolutely no problems with (if you dont count the ones that got broken when i fell on them when i was a kid, and the one that got chipped when i sneezed and bit down on a fork causing a large chunk of my tooth to fly out of my mouth and land in my sisters bowl of soup).
Same as Slylee though i do plan on getting them cleaned when my budget will allow for it. No amount of brushing gets those damn tea and coffee stains out (ok maybe it des if you drink normal amounts of tea and coffee, but depending on the season most of my daily intake of food and liquids is either tea or coffee). |

| My only dental story is that my dentist told me I'd have to get my wisdom teeth removed. I didn't believe him, and--as usual--I was right. |
