Noticed Guv's All Access Long Weekend Events were scaled down year after year? (Also no more UltraSpins) The challenge was slowly coming to an end and they've foreseen the results coming. You won't be getting massive DJ lines up when Boa & Circa first opened, which I may say ... truly mind blowing when you look at those flyers again.
I predict, All Access Long Weekend Events will be back to normal size until the next challangers come along.
I applause Boa and Circa for their efforts, but salute the Guvernement for standing their grounds & winning those two massive wars. |

guv could definitely use escalators.
Personally i would like one of the rabbit table / chairs |
They did have a lot of fun things there. I had fun checking out different sounds in each room too. I'll actually miss that place, but am truly not surprised that this happened. Especially after the headache it was to finally get it open. |

it wasn't really a war..
imo both clubs just failed in how they operated (boa, circa). The sad irony is that both places were resurrected twice and still failed. I'm not saying the bookings were bad, both clubs had some amazing dj's & talent play over the years and i loved boa/sonic but the formulas of how both places operated must have been incorrect if they both closed down. Toronto is a very difficult market to succeed in, you have to really know what you are doing before you attempt to step into Guv's territory. |

It's very hard to succeed in the entertainment district....too many clubs competing for business. There have been too many clubs come and go and come again in that area.
The Guv is outside that area and has built up a regular clientele that will almost fill the club every saturday, regardless of who the DJ is. |

I'd love to get my hands on some of that decor... |
I had never even stepped foot in the club to experience this crazy decor. I only ever saw it in others photos. |

I loved Boa/Sonic......awesome vibe + amazaing bookings, and every time I went the place was ing rammed to for the most part, its a shame they couldn't figure out the right "formula" to become a mainstay in the scene, to this day I miss that place and wish it was an option at 3am.... |

| The Guv considered it a war and took things very seriously ... there were no joking around when it comes to bookings in those time frames. They really brought some heavy guns to those events, all in one night too. Honestly, not many clubs can do that for so many years too. |

| yeah I'm praying for some major competition to step up to the plate, imo all of Guv's bookings this year, with the exception of Canada Day (which they still managed to up the timeslots), have been extremely weak compared to even 4-5 years ago... |

why weak tho?
in the past year they've brought in practically every possible major act they could possibly get their hands on...
recycled at times maybe, but definitely top acts that would fit the format of a superclub |

i will miss having at least one other "super club" option.
being able to catch a great act at another place of the same caliber made me appreciate guv that much more when I came back.
circa also had more places to sit than a food court in a mall. (pun totally intended) which I really appreciated.
I heard they had kids parties there during the week?? is this true? |

If Circa had the same type of owners as Guv that would mean Toronto maintaining 2 super club's. I don't understand this city. GTA is massive population with only 1 mega club which is insufficient for the clubbing industry and well, all of the civilian's. The club is awesome and Guv is by a mile away with interior design however nobody can beat their main room space.
If this is true than it's terrible news because I have amazing times @ Circa :D |
