Playdium failed because of location. Kids don't live in the club district or anywhere close to it. Whoever thought this would work was smoking crack (or what parents think their kids would be doing if they took the bus to the big smoke). These type of venues work in the burbs where your minivan driving mom can drop you off and pick you up...
Lucid failed because after going public, the founder stole all the money that was raised in the offering and left the country. The club was forced to survive with no capital backing so any bad weeks were like small knife wounds and they eventually bled out due to a poorly negociated rent agreement that was unworkable
CiRCA hasn't completely failed (yet) but was always behind the 8-ball due to a long legal delay before opening, high rent, poor management and other things. If someone would just run the place right instead of like a retard convention, the place really has potential.

Before that it was Go-Go... spent many a night in the "White Room" before heading off to 23 Hop!

What is the right formula for that location.....they've tried appealing to the Trance/House people and that didn't work....now they are trying to appeal to the top 40 crowd and that doesn't seem to work.
There just isn't enough party people in the entertainment district for the number of clubs there are. |

There isn't a right formula for that space as a club...

With a place that size there has to be a lot going on. They need to develop a concert business through relationships with the big players and labels, they need to promote various events on the same night with different entrances, they need to work on special events and meetings, the movie and television biz and many more. The place is very unique but simply relying on a bar crowd to make it work is not an option. There has to be multiple sources of income or its destined to fail.
Its not what style of music, its the fact that any style should just be one of many income streams.

| Circa is crap. My main issue is that the main dance floor is way to small. I feel everytime I went there I spent my time walking around or pushed around by bouncers on some sort of power trip. Place just has a bad vibe with me. |
