Yessss....

But in real life, that apparently didn't actually happen..

But I'd go to the closing just in case...

You can't put a pseudo-avant garde club in the middle of a sea of mediocrity (read: the entertainment district) and expect it to succeed. When you boil it right down, the majority of people who go out these days don't care about out-there decor and freaky mascots running around (well, maybe for the first five minutes), they just want to be where everyone else is.

Successful super-clubs like Guv aside, I'd love to see someone step up and open up a place like Industry again, but that's more wishful thinking than anything else. Combination of just the right capacity, simple yet highly functional layout, absolutely killer soundsystem and bookings that for the better part emphasised the most skilled and forward thinking aspects of the dance music community. Most clubs these days (hell, on most days) are too caught up with flying in the flavour of the moment and hoping each night somehow sticks, rather than building loyalty based on long-term vision. marketing - whether 50 capacity or 5,000, the best clubs don't follow trends, they create them.

back on topic, its entertaining to read all the speculation around circa.. and like someone said earlier, filing for bankruptcy does not mean that the club shut its doors.. the last thing their creditors would want is to be stuck with an empty building in the middle of the ent. district

general hospitality industry concensus (club/bar/restaurant) is if a similar business has failed more than once operating around a comparable business model, it will continuously fail again with the same structuring. they changed the format a bit but really it's like spinning a revolver with one empty chamber and playing russian roulette. gatien should've known better with his experience.
